YO BRO THIS IS SO COOL. I love Dark Souls so its so cool to see a clone of it. Everything about this is super cool, with a bit more polishing I reckon this game could turn out amazing.

Developer(+1)

Yo mate thanks. Really glad that you liked this project so much. Thanks alot

This is so incredible that you chose a dark souls clone. I know its possible to make this in 2 weeks... I used to be able to do it when I was in school for my Game Art degree. This was well done. I saw how someone made the UI in Inkscape and I wanted to do that style. The attacks at times felt slow, but that was a skill issue for me. This was well done.

Developer

Thanks for your words on the project.

Thanks a ton!

Incredible job to all the team! This game recreates the feeling of dark souls 1 so authentically, from the way the enemies attack to the level design, the enemy placement as traps, the boss feels satisfying and has the authentic feel of a more cut-down simplified version of a dark souls 1 boss. The controls felt a little odd, but I got used to them and beat the boss first try after running out of heals on a sliver of health. For context, Fromsoft are my favourite games developers and I've played most of thier games.  I played with controller as I'm used to that for souls games. Also, sounds, visuals and music were all great!

Unfortunatly although I started a recording of my first playthrough, as I wanted to show the creators how I played my first time through, snipping tool failed me and didn't record, but I recorded my 2nd playthrough with OBS which worked.

Things that could be improved:
- The controller not working in the menu

- Playing with controller I experienced a constant drift in my left and right sticks, I think you can configure dead-zones so you need a certain minimum amount of movement from to trigger a valid input

Hey mate! Thanks for the feedback. We'll surely update the project in those areas

Developer(+1)

Yo it is so awesome that you went to the effort to record your playthrough! It was really cool to watch how you tackled the game. Thanks a ton!

We will add controller deadzones and UI interaction to the non-jam version.

It's crazy that you managed to create a Dark Souls clone. I liked it. But having to press C to roll is a bit weird for me who used to press SPACE to roll in Dark Souls games. Good work!

Developer

I'll be sure to add control remapping in my next game or a later version!

Very impressive what you managed to do for a game jam. I have not played Dark Souls - one thing my partner had feedback on was that the boss's attacks all seemed like AoE attacks whereas in Dark Souls a lot of the attacks are telegraphed so you can learn how to dodge them and where to stand. I ended up safespotting the boss behind the fence, so not sure how intentional that was. The graphics were all impressive and no complaints with the sounds/music.

Developer

Thanks mate hope you liked it!

That's bang on, good observation. We tried to add longer windups to the boss' attack animations, but a few slipped through the cracks and feel a bit unfair.

As for the AOE: I recommend jumping.

Tried running on my win 11 laptop and got to the boss, but it's curbstomping me. Can't believe you made this in two weeks, nicely done!

Super, super impressive. I even managed to speedrun the game, beat the boss in 1 minute and 52 seconds... there's at least 10 seconds I could save if I played better hehe.

Developer(+1)

Yo that's awesome! Thank you for playing! I don't think I could beat it that fast. Maybe with the Jump skips...

Developer

Wow..  Impressive!
