- Good work on your platformer game. You met all the objectives for this game. There seemed to a few bugs, for example, nothing seemed to happen when the player takes damage by walking into a slime, or falling in a pit trap.

Nice 2d platformer, feels good to play, I like the visuals and music. Great job for your first jam!
Some suggestions for improvement:
- some visual effect when you land on enemies and kill them and maybe the player bouncing off them in a mini-jump
- implementing damage or having to restart the level on hitting enemy or spike from the side
- the mushrooms would be more interesting if they changed some aspect of the gameplay when picked up rather than just giving points
Spondo can fly as long as you keep mashing the jump button which is nice and I was able to make it to the end of all five levels. Great job for a beginner.
Unintended bug, so must be a feature, right?! Thanks for taking the time to play!
For a beginner attempt this is a really good job, I can see alot of learning went into this! It does play alot like mario, with your own twists and experiments
Will be very interested to see what else you can do!"
Appreciate it!
After reading the comments I expected worse for the movements tbh, it wasn't that bad. I know it's pretty time-consumming to get the exact settings for a player controller that feels just right. I also didn't expect that much different mecanics (dash, wallcling, warp pipes, invincibility pots...) it's great you managed to get all that working.
The fact that the player doesn't have hp and cannot die, only looses points, is pretty weird I think i'd prefer the regular die -> respawn at start of level.
Great job for your first platformer!
Appreciate it! The movement isn't absolutely horrible imo but all the comments were right, it's implemented, but not very well. I was definitely more focused on getting the game out rather than making the game good, which is obviously not ideal. But now I know! Thanks again for taking the time.
So, the jump and movement did need a little work. Platformers are tricky, but you did well for a first attempt... Better than what I would have done for sure. The jump did need to have a little more gravity... but also, I found that there was no way to die, and almost every level had that invincible ability. What did the mushrooms actually do? What happened to Level 1? I was unable to click on it. Other than that... this was good.
Thanks for the feedback! Both mushrooms were related to the hp mechanic - one for gaining hp, one for short invincibility. But I scrapped the hp mechanic when I found a few pretty big bugs in it that I didn't have time to properly fix before submitting. I appreciate you taking the time to play it.
I understand, survival mode on my minesweeper is supposed to be way different than what I wanted. I had those game-breaking bugs as well.. You still did good. Just know that if you would have implemented the mushroom feedback, then this would be a completed game.. A game of this scope is hard.. but you were really close.....and hey, it is out and you did it. It is better to put out an unfinished game that is not polished then to not put out anything at all.
Agree with others about the controls. Also found a couple unintended bugs? which I posted on discord. Also, I think you can't actually die. Visuals/audio were decent. Control scheme was a little odd.
I appreciate you playing it and for the bug reports on DC!
I agree with both comments before me, focusing on the character movement for a platformer is essential. The game works like this but learning and improving the movement would transform the game without changing anything else.
Appreciate it! I may do some tweaking on his movement while I sort out my next game. It definitely needed and deserved more work.
I think that as a first attempt at a 2D platformer, this isn't bad. However, I think for your next project, you should really focus on ensuring that the character is satisfying to control, as right now, Spondo simultaneously feels like hes weightless and leaden.
I appreciate the feedback! And I agree, his jump needed more grav and his fall needed less. Thanks!
I believe that jumping in a platformer is the foundation, and it should be implemented at a decent level.
The music is great.
Thanks for playing! Definitely needed to tweak the movement more. Jump was floaty and fall was way too fast. Appreciate the feedback!
