This game holds a record for me - I played it the longest of all.
It is true that most of the time I just watched the "gameplay" fascinated and hypnotized.
For me, it is a perfect example of the fact that "looking good" does not have to mean only perfect 3D models or super cute hand-drawn graphics. And that sweetspot between the dense mushroom path and the almost empty space is mesmerizing.
I can think of several options to add a little bit of interactivity to the gameplay - add food, change colors, load a Tokyo subway map instead of a Voronoi graph...
It's just a shame about the web build, maybe it will work out later.
Thanks for the feedback. We will focus on new mechanics and UX improvements to encourage players to think about the optimal solution. Some changes will come in the next few days. Also there might be some tweaks in map and food generator, but I am concerned that Tokyo subway map would take too much VRAM :D
I think you should actually try to embrace the toy/simulation part. It doesn’t have to be game anymore. Be creative, follow the nice parts. It may lead you to more organic ideas for the game, without having to slap on various UIs, numbers, money etc.
This game has the best visual effect I have ever seen in our Easter game jams. But other than that, the game has more problems than successes.
Surrounding visuals have a strong prototype vibe, not fitting that awesome mushroom growth simulation.
Music is great, but it is not fitting the game theme.
And last but not least, I don’t get where is the “game” part. Mushroom spread is slow, albeit it’s nice to watch, and then nothing else happens. It is a cute mushroom growth simulation (and in that regard, I like it), but it needs something more in it to be a game.
It is a game. About 5 hours before being finished... :D. Or, more precisely, about 5 hours of development by somebody who slept more than 0 hours :D. There might be an updated version in the coming days :-).
I LOVE the visual. I just looked at it and even forgot I was playing a game haha. I liked the game, but it seemed very simple – but understandably so, I think that creating the main visual must have taken a lot of time. However...I would enjoy a few more mechanics to mess around with.
But overall a very nice game with great use of the ingredients!
Thanks for your opinion. More mechanics, more gameplay, more nom nom coming soon :-)
Absolutely hypnotic. AND I DEFINITELY NEED a web version. I know exactly which wall to play it on.
I will try, but I have doubts that a web version would play nicely with the compute shaders.
The UI and the visuals are very nice. I also liked the tutorial that you guys made, it was synced nicely with the sounds :D. I do wish there were more interactive parts as the visuals are really cool looking.
Definitely we will implement more interactive elements. We also want to give more weight to player decisions.
The music and visuals together are mesmerising and it's fun to watch it grows. Frankly, I didn't understand the mechanic of growing paths or how to control them (sometimes I had the feeling it did anything but what was the best for it).
For the future, it would be handy to be able to speed it up or probably make it into some AFK grinding game (it would certainly hook me). Overall it's a very nice entry and I quite like it.
Thanks or review. We are working on more intuitive and faster version. Out intention is to let players decide if they want AFK and just look at it or learn how the game works and try eating everything. Stay tuned!
I really appreciate the uniqueness of this entry.
It does a lot differently (as mentioned in the presentation :D). The visuals are satisfying. Also points for actually playing and recording the music.
As a game though, I feel that it lacks something to keep me playing outside of visual curiosity. There is very little gameplay and so it really fells like an interactive video in the end.
In any case, it is definitely a very cool entry and I look forward to seeing next games from you!
I would even say that there was no gameplay :D. We ran out of time, there might be an updated version in the coming days :-).
I loved the chill music. Also the visuals of the simulation are positively hypnotizing. A beautifully peculiar game.
I'll admit I didn't spend the time to consume all of the map, but even so the game was really nice to look at. Maybe gameplay-wise it would have been cool to have the other entities fight us back / consume each other?
For sure it would have. We just ran out of time. There might be an updated version in the coming days :-).
Love the tutorial and how the game looks. Not really a game I enjoyed playing per sey, since it felt like letting simulation play on its own, which is not my thing I suppose.

Quite a satisfying looking game, definitely could be expanded in the future with other mechanics to make it even more interesting, as its already very visually appealing :)
