Lets make a supplement for a modern surreal horror TTRPG that doesn't exist!
I want the book to feel like you found a dusty old module for a game you haven't heard of behind the shelves of a local game store. The art is unnerving, but you feel compelled to bring it home, searching through the pages to figure out what sort of game this could possibly be for.
Here is an example of my work.
Design goals:
- Zine sized pdf (probably 5.5in x 8.5in)
- Somewhere between 12 and 32 pages.
- Pages in multiple of 4 so it can be printed as a zine.
- Somewhere between 12 and 32 pages.
- Modern found-footage surreal horror vibe throughout.
- This book is the third module in a series.
- Throughout the book it references rules, NPCs, events, and page numbers from the nonexistent core book and nonexistent previous two modules.
- Gaps left in the module, leaving the reader wondering how this is supposed to be used.
- Inspirations: Liminal Horror, Godhusk.
Important parts and where you can help:
- Layout - I will do the layout using LaTeX.
- Art - help needed
- I have ideas of using grainy / blurry photos and putting them through a CRT filter to give them that found-footage vibe, but I am open to suggestions.
- I could also take collaborator photos / art and run them through the CRT filter to keep the art consistent.
- Cover art
- Interior art
- Ideally, at least one image per spread (2 pages)
- Maybe one full page piece of art
- Map(s)
- Embellishments
- Making the pages feel dusty, etc.

- Writing - help needed
- Lore
- Rules text
- NPCs
- Factions
- Different NPCs/factions have conflicting objectives
- Locations
- Items
- Objectives
- Cryptic GM advice
- Editing - I will be the editor, keeping the writing and art consistent with the design goals.
- Project management - I will facilitate this project.
- The final PDF will be posted on my itch.io account, all collaborators will be credited.
Optional things:
- It would be fun to mail a print copy to each collaborator.
- There could be an advertisement for other products that don't exist.
Collaboration:
Please let me know if you are interested in collaborating! We can communicate through here as we get ready for the jam, then move to Discord once the jam starts.
