Wow, I am very impressed — the SFX, animations, and lighting are all very cool. I also really like the overall atmosphere. The time-freezing effect looks very impressive — how did you do that? :D

I'm glad you liked it. It started when I was trying to improve my melee attacks. I added the enemy-cutting effect I learned here:

But it was too fast and you couldn't even see the enemy being cut properly. Then I had the idea to zoom in on the camera and then, after cutting, suddenly slow down time and then go back (I even wanted to do this with a slow-motion sound effect, but the build web doesn't accept sound effects for some reason). Then came the idea for the ability, to Freeze Time. Draw a path with a standard Unity line; time is 90% frozen so the game doesn't stop completely. When released, it quickly follows the path, cutting all enemies along the way.

Unreal experience, No comments!

The graphical component of the game with visual effects is very engaging! The controls also feel smooth

I am very impressed with the vfx, the game feels very professional

aMAZING GAME, the movement and gfighting feeling amazing, couldn't figure out how to use the abilities tho

Developer

Thank you very much for the feedback. The tutorial has a quick explanation: you press "Q" when the ability is available. There's an icon with a bar that fills up during the game with each bullet you block. It increases the bar a little and makes a sound when it's available to use. I'll improve this feedback further in the future.

Pretty immersive and fun!
The "tink" sound when you knock back the bullets is a nice sound.
I didn't see anyone else saying this but my right click brings up the right click menu... but not always and I find away around it but using left click at the same time, so I was able to play it. Probably just a firefox thing.

Great job with the game and good luck in the Jam

Thank you so much, I've seen several reports here that it really is Firefox.

Hey Flyber!

Very solid game all around! Loved the fluid movement and responsiveness. The VFX are really pleasing to look at as well. Really great work here.

Some things I would critique: The actual attacking itself feels a bit clunky. This is because the player slows down a bit and the animation takes a bit too long. Fast paced actions games like this usually feel better with faster attacks/hitboxes.

Some visual clarity in terms of enemy attacks and models would help a little bit.

Some of the SFX i felt were too soft while others a little too harsh.

But this was a great game! Only listing this critique because it was such a good game and has great potential even further! Great job on it.

<3 I should have just focused on the character's defense (the original idea was invincible defense), but in my head it seemed strange to have a katana and not be able to use it. The system was already finished, so I decided to leave it and not remove it. The slow motion was intentional to make it clear that you're tearing the enemy apart (it's harder to go melee, but it gives double points). Anyway, thank you for the support. I'm very happy with the feedback and I hope to improve this game even more before a possible release. <3

Seems quite enjoyable, the movement feels good and the art is impressive, overall pretty solid.

YOOOOOOOOOO THIS WAS SICK DUDE, it was giving me some mad john wick/deadpool vibes and once you entered the flow state my days!! Absolute banger, definitely my favorite submission this jam. If there's any sort of feedback I can give I think that adding more weight to the player's animations would've definitely enhanced the combat feel, the dodge was very good though.

Absolute banger, I would love to hear what you think about JANTA-9

These lighting effects are mindblowing. Way to go on this game!!!

It's a good game, I see a lot of people praising it, so I'll criticize a little, hehe. Overall, I liked the game and it was fun to play. I especially wanted to get on the leaderboard, but there were a couple of moments that ruined the fun of the game a little. Maybe it's just me, but when I hold down Shift and want to parry, a browser window appears. Maybe it's just me (I use Firefox).2. It's hard to see enemies, even though they're red, but a bunch of effects and shaders sometimes make it difficult to see them. A subtle glow could be added to make them easier to spot. 3. After death, there's a bug where the player's model disappears or shifts. The first time, it shifted upward, but the camera didn't. As far as I understand, the collider the enemies were shooting at also didn't move, although I could hit the enemies. The second time, the main character's model simply disappeared from the camera's view. I want to say I liked the game, I just wish it were better. Good luck to you

Thank you, criticism is important. I'm already aware of the bug after a player dies; this happened during the game's conversion to the web version. I lost a lot of points because of this – my mistake for not making a Windows version available. I thought the web version would be easier for everyone to play. Regarding the ranking, I discovered that the browser keeps saving the record cache and doesn't update it. The in-game scoreboard is functional in the initial menu. Thank you very much for the feedback; I will update it in post-jam versions.

The art and audio for this game are top notch, and the little detail like the game screen cracking when a bullet hits it are chef's kiss. If nothing else, this game should win an award for best Itch page as it looks amazing.

Like other commenters I found it hard to see how it fits the theme, but you can see the love put into this game so to that I say bravo! 🎉

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much, the game was made with great care, focusing on the mechanics of the character's defense being invincible. It took up a lot of my free time from work, and I hope to be able to release it someday.

Cool game. Found myself wanting more hack and slash.

Wow awesome roguelike type game! I think the music and sfx were pretty good too! The only thing I wished was more clear visually was the spinning light things since they had like a glare thing that looked like something I had to dodge (same color as the other attacks that were shining lights). So it was a bit confusing.

Submitted(+1)

The game is quite fun, but I confess I didn't quite understand where the invincible theme fits in... Well, good job.

Developer(+1)

On the game's page I explained a bit more about how it relates to the theme; I followed the idea of a vampires/megabonk-like game, but the character's defense is "invincible"—he can deflect all bullets as long as they are within his field of vision.

Submitted(+1)

Oh, that makes sense... I didn't become invincible through Skill Issue, lol. Anyway, it's a great game, congratulations!

Developer

Oh, thank you so much, your game is amazing!!! It brought back so many memories for me, I'm looking to buy an Atari :S

Really cool entry! loved the combat and skills. Only thing is I would've liked it if the character felt less smooth and floaty, and more like a heavy speedster with weight on hits and run. That's a nitpick, the game overall is super good, well done!

Awesome art style!! Love the color palette  and juice vfx!

The visuals and feel is perfect. World's Shader looks fantastic. Well done nice game!

Amazing game! The audio is a little too loud though.
