Really cool graphics. I went up to level 3 before being one-shot by some flesh giraffe huhu. The ambient sound really sell the atmosphere too

The game is crashing quite a bit on my system. I don´t really know when, but it happened after just left clicking on items ac ouple of times, trying to take them from the floor. And what are you doing with the 3d graphic? Is this some sort of clever trick with 2D graphics? If it is 3d it looks kina weird and you can move to close to the walls. The battles and item drops seem to be very RNG. Sometimes I killed an enemy with one hit, somethims it needed dozends of attacks. But the game looks nice, escpecially with the homemade graphics. Oh, and a voice intro, neat.

Hey, yes it's a fake 2D that's used in Wolfenstein 3D called "raycasting."  It's an old technique that gives it the jank kind of not-3D look.  As for the crashing, I think other have reported it on Linux?  What OS are you on?

Windows

A raycaster, well cool. But I almost thought, that you did something with 2D graphics like Lands of Lore.

I beat the game and I win nothing!

I have a love/hate relationship with Kenshi. I love the setting, I love challenges, but sometimes I hate the inevitability of your demise due to some stupid mistake. You captured that feeling really well.

After playing 20 minutes I feel like there were almost no choices you can make in the game, you pick up repair kits, you heal, you hold space when there’s an enemy in front of you. I like that your stats increase, but I don’t know how they affect your character.

There was a bug that the UI was carried over from the previous level, because I usually saw dark hitpoint bars on top of the my real ones. First I thought that you have a wound and healing system, but then I figured that it’s probably a bug.

Overall I think the difficulty fits Kenshi demake, but for the jam game I would tune it a bit easier or add some clever choices player can make to improve their odds.

Here’s my play-through:

I tried twice, only go down to the 2nd floor. Is this game procedurally generated? If so I got screwed then. there were lots of swords and no heals. The bird thing (coolest part of Kenshi btw, not that I've played it) leaves a crab corpse when killed. The gameplay leaves much to be desired and a minimap would be great, though visuals, animation, voiceover, audio are great!

So thats what one of my units feels when i order them to go check that tower, from where all the screams coming from. Despair.
Cool kenshi HP bars and nice, high-budget intro. Atmosphere sounds cool too.
After 10 minutes of clueless searches without any map or landmark (except of 2 thousand rusty swords on the ground) - i was forever lost in AshlandDome 1. GG

A short little experience. I only seemed to find rusty swords, but a ton of them. And throwing them at the enemies didn't seem to help.

Thanks for making the game!

I win nothing.

What happened is that during some run I got plenty of healing consumables and got quickly to level 3 so after I got stuck there I started mapping it, then mapped the 4th and 5th floors as well and fortunately didn't die before the end.

I wonder if there's more in the game than what's communicated, if there is more then you might indicate it in the game page. Just like the previous poster I've no idea if picking any weapon is worth it and the difference in the time it takes to defeat some enemy or another is disturbing. I also have little idea of when I'm close to death.

One thing I didn't like about the layout is that each corridors ends in a dead end, there is no intersection leading to two roads which could join again further.

Overall I had fun though, the game is very nice to look at and feels good to control, the sounds add to the atmosphere and tension and the combat system + an healing consumable you might use too early or too late is perfectly fine and fun gameplay in the context.

Thanks for sharing!

Those beak things got hands! Some of them died instantly, some of them seemed basically immune to swords (of which I had too many).
