I'm not really into Pokemon so I was surprised that I did enjoy my time with this game! It was satisfying to strategize against some of the harder plants and I felt like I was rewarded for knowing what all my teas and tools did! Maybe you've sold me a bit to try those games again lol.
I did feel like most of the teas ended up being not that useful but given the *shear* amount of them I guess it would be pretty difficult. Daze was also maybe too powerful of an ability once I started relying on it; I was looking forward to using tea to beat the Cordyceps but really just spamming daze carried me.
I don't know if it was the intended experience, but fetching the tools mainly consisted of me running to the end of the area and spamming the run away option immediately. I thought it was an interesting choice that the tool at the end of the area seemed to be the necessary one for the monsters IN that area (?)
The music was very nice but I wish it was more chiptune oriented given the presentation leaned so heavily into the Game Boy, even if there was just a single square wave somewhere in the instrumentation.
My only other note is I think the cauldron should have healed you (maybe you take a sip as you brew or something), just a tiny bit of a time saver to not walk into bed when I'm already walking aaaaall the way back to the cauldron. Honestly a lot of the time when harvesting I just kept going until I passed out since it was quicker to die and get my health back than walk all the way back and into bed.
Overall I think it was a solid complete experience, nice work!
Thank you for the feedback! I super appreciate it. I agree with pretty much everything you said! Daze was a bit strong, and actually a pain point on the receiving end as well!
The main tool/area interaction I was unhappy with was the first one. The best tool to have in the forest was the knife, which you probably are getting last. I thought it would be a nice feeling to go back and conquer the plants that were tough in the beginning, but it turned out to make the first area people go, a frustrating area. Kind of worst case scenario.
Yeah I spent a couple hours trying to find chiptune music that I liked, since I have no musical talent myself, and I just couldn't find any. I just settled on the ones I found during my search that fit the feeling I wanted instead. Would have preferred music more from the era if I had more time.
Thanks for completing it! I'm glad you felt rewarded to be strategic about what tools/teas you used. That was the part of the game that I was most satisfied with in the end! I think a lot of people didn't make it far enough to see much of that stuff, because of all the points of frustration near the start
Loved it. I think it is similar with the idea i had (also inspired by pokémon) but much better done.
Really great job nailing that gameboy style. I loved the sprites and the overall tone, and even the gameplay was pretty entertaining.
I liked it! You really were able to capture that early pokemon style. Everything looked great, played great, sounded great. Good job.
Really original idea for the theme with charming nostalgic artstyle.

really nice little Pokémon style game and good use of the theme, i love the sound and music and the artsyle is really nice good work
Great game! Well done.
Such a good idea to make it about brewing teas, and the game is really enjoyable and feels really polished, you did an amazing job here ! I really enjoyed it and I liked the abilities being linked to the tools, with each tool having 2 abilities.
Really charming game and takes me back in time! Good job on the game and visuals!
obviously excellent visuals. Prune goated
Color use made everything very obvious what was interactable which was nice!
Music was nice and chill and the combat was fair every time (if you were paying attention to what you were fighting, much like Pokemon).
Great stuff!
This was great! I love old Pokemon games and to turn harvesting ingredients into a Pokemon style battle was spectacular! Great job!
Love Pokemon R/B!! Came for the vibes, stayed for the tea. Awesome game!
Super nice game and absolutly not copyright problems :D
Lol yeah, I wish I had more time to do more custom art. Usually my wife does art for me, but she was too busy this week
I'll catch that ginseng one day! Really spot on for a mon-like thats retro, has fruit, and a resource, well done. Was difficult to get to the tool in each area since the area is full of mons that would be easier with said tool, but it was still very doable! I woulda killed for a run button tho q.q
Yeah absolutely! I think a lot of people run into too many encounters they don't have the tools for. People are probably losing patience irl! I could have pretty easily done a system that made them a bit more rare if you don't have the tool for them. My biggest regret!
But right now, if you choose the leave option there is still over %50 they wont hurt you.
Impressive work, congrats!
I like the color use, and music gave a fun vibe to the familiar setup.
Really cool pokemon inspired brewing simulator. Loved the music and the color pallete.
Pretty good game, it would be better if you added a repellent tho, apart from that, pretty cool game pal
