Not sure if I was supposed to do anything in the first area but a pressed on anyways. What an interesting world here. I very much liked the art and what I thought was the afterlife world. Very Very cool.
thank you!!
I think i accidentally jumped straight to the end? there was a point where the guy at the beginning told me not to go, and i went there anyway and i think ended up in hell? it seems like a lot of effort went into the story and dialogue, but the layout was confusing and the game lost me after i fell off the map. The art style is quite gripping however! and the dialogue was quite fun, platforming was smooth as well. well done c:
❤️
So very cute, it's great seeing what the final experience you made was! I really liked reading the story!
I adore the hand drawn style of everything and like that each character had their own text box. The music and art are so atmospheric, it gave a really nice vibe, as did all the level designs and parallax. I LOVED the Quetzalcoatl sprite!
I loved the dialogue with the panther guy a lot. I think I died (as much as the child can, at least) and it looped? The camera was being weird so I couldn't play any further.
I think I missed the trigger for the double jump at first, I was looking around for where to go, did a loop around and got the ability then! I unfortunately got stuck the first time after going to the village and going left, I fell off the edge with no camera and thought I had to restart. It was ok though, since I got to see new dialogue.
It would be nice if the opening scene played a little slower, too.
Got it! Thank you!
Lovely game, but I couldn't get too far. I couldn't make meaningful jumps onto platforms and was generally very confused on where to go. I ended up looping around the first 4 (?) areas. Also not sure if this is a bug but I couldn't select other dialogue options without having the player jump or move in the background, so I could only hit the enter key on whatever was there. Gave me a lack of agency sadly. The concept is neat and the color palette was used well! I do agree with other comments that more guidance/direction on where to go would help.
You definitely have an eye for detail, the Mesoamerican influence is strong and seems well-researched. Good job!
You're supposed to use Q&E; Sadly I realized too late that the prompt buttons aren't as legible as I thought
Atmosphere and music is amazing, very unique, and the story was a fever dream, although a bit confusing at least for me. For some reason I can walk while talking to NPCs, I don't know if that was supposed to be like that, but it was not a big issue. Art is charming too, had fun with it!
Really cool art style and use of Mesoamerican lore. It was interesting seeing all the different renditions of the deities and other beings. The cutscene art was really nicely done, and the dialogue was fun to read throughout. I liked unlocking the different abilities as I went, especially the air jump and later the sun platforms. There's a lot of personality and creativity in this game.
Thank you!!
I wasnt too sure on where to go or what to do most of the time, but the atmosphere felt really well-crafted and I got the gist of the story. Really liked the art and usage of color, it gave everything a very surreal and magical atmosphere, and the areas felt very distinct. The character animations and drawings of the gods (?) had a lot of personality too.
I would agree with the other comments so far, I would recommend adding more "guidance" for the player, to know where to go next. And i also got stuck on the left side in the mortal realm as well lol.
Nevertheless, I could really feel your passion and how much effort and energy you put into this game, and its really inspiring seeing games about different cultures and mythologies! Keep at it, and well done on this one!
Thank you! I really really was so passionate about this project; I probably will revisir it post jam. The feeling of being lost is supposed to be on purpose - given that Tzin (who you play as) also doesn't particularly know where to go; But I've realized that it makes the gamd less fun
The music makes this all feel super surreal. I wasn't too sure on what I was doing but I did like exploring. I think it would help if you minimized the number of platforms you had. It makes them feel more "intentional" and guiding. The platforming feels a bit floaty--try making the movement a bit faster!
I liked the art and animations! I dunno if it's intentional or a bug but the cutscene at the start was super fast. I would've liked to see the animation but it zoomed through and I couldn't process all of it
I didn't know the right frame rate
I got stuck offscreen in one of the areas somehow, it was right around when you descend to the mortal realm with the spider. The art style is nice, I quite like the cutscene at the start.
U went too far left probably
