ONE OF THE STRONGER ENTRIES
Holy moly this one got me locked in from the start when the settings asked for immersive experience on/off😭😭😭The environment is well made but the SHADERS, they elevates the unsettling/eerie feeling even more!! The only problem that others have mentioned too is the load time, and it affects this game heavily because the gameplay part contains soo much eerie and horror element that the 30s load time breaks the flow, but still this was a really really strong entry.
Thank you for your feedback!
Yeah, the load times are definitely something I’m working on improving since I know they break the immersion. I’ve been optimizing it and I’m aiming to get them down significantly.
I really appreciate your feedback, and I’m glad you enjoyed the atmosphere and overall experience! :)
Ok, ima be honest...
The game is really good, i loved the idea that we had to check the email every night, it was spooky...
BUT i didnt like somethings, like:
I didnt like that every scene, it takes 30 seconds to load, like why? i JUST hated that PART a LOT!
Next is the atmosphere, which is good, and i was about to give you 4 stars, but the trees, they were very basic, and even i used that kind of models, But not like just a sphere, i usually sculpted it...
There were MANY minor bugs, but thats alright, cause every game has those kind of bugs, including mine lol!
And yea, i think thats much, umm, i dont think i was able to beat the game tho, cause the lord some text appeared the second time...
Overall, This game is really really good, but room for improvements are there, and this will DEFINITELY shine in the future with updates!
Also could you be able to rate my game too pleaseee? id really appreciate it!!! :)
Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it.
Yeah, the load times bothered me too. I tried optimizing them a few times, but with the jam deadline I had to prioritize getting everything working, especially the VHS segments since those took a lot of time to make. Definitely something I want to improve.
For the trees, I’m still pretty new to Blender (just finished the donut tutorial recently), so I kept them simple for now. I agree they could use more detail.
Glad you mentioned the text issue, could you explain a bit more about what happened there? That would help a lot.
I’ll check out your game too :)
Fun game!
This is a really strong entry. It’s incredibly nerve racking trying to reach the end of the street without getting killed! The shader effects were also really cool and added a lot to the atmosphere. However I will say and I’m not sure if this was intentional or not but some of the text was hard to read because of the shader effects. Certain words I couldn’t make out at all.
It did take me a while to figure out that I needed to turn off my flashlight to move. Some guidance or a hint for that mechanic would have helped a lot.
The final run to the mailbox felt a bit too difficult in my opinion. It took me quite a few attempts to finish, and the ~30 second load time after each death made it feel a bit tedious.
I’m also not sure if I completed the game as intended. After getting back to the house following the chase, I accidentally fired my gun, which sent me back to the main menu.
As others have mentioned, the biggest issue is definitely the load times. Having to wait around 30 seconds between sections or after dying really interrupts the game’s flow.
Overall though, great work! The game was very entertaining and genuinely scary.
Thanks for the feedback! And yes you did play the last night with the gun correctly. I was aware of the last night being hard and even takes me a few times to beat but I figured it would be more fun than the other nights and less of a walking sim, I will probably make it easier in another update after the jam.
I put out a resent update that hints at the flashlight mechanic a little bit more along with a few more controls like the pause menu not being toggled with ESC and what Tab or P.
I did spent a lot of time trying to fix the load time but I could not get it to work, but maybe I will try again soon.
Also did you see the other ending after being teleported to the main menu? If you did not you can go to night 2 pause then press main menu then you are teleported to the same main menu at the end. The end and beginning main menus are not the same.
Tip: if you do go back and try to get that ending press play again…
really cool shader - lso love the bits of sounds for build up! cool vibes
Very curious how the load times are 30 seconds - maybe something in a later part of the game or something LOL. I'd really like to play more but after 3 round trips to mailbox I didn't feel like it anymore.
I couldn’t move from the house, I could only turn the camera on and off. If you tell me how I’m supposed to play, I’ll give it another try.
you can press F to turn the flashlight off and when it’s off then you can move.
Tip: the killer does not like the flashlight
I have to tell you, you’re the first videogame that has actually managed to scare me hahaha, congratulations. I think having limitations creates a lot of fear—very well done.
thanks
I like it :D
