A fantastic tower defense game! I love the gameplay; it's very well designed, and the difficulty is perfectly balanced. It kept me entertained for quite a while; I loved it. I progressed quite far to see how much you had developed it xD. Seriously, it's very well done. I give it my 5/5 star rating :)

I love tower defense games! Had a great time with this one. There are more levels than I expected, and the difficulty really well balanced. Great entry!

Glad to hear how much you enjoyed this one! Especially with your happiness with the number of levels and difficulty also; we didn't have a lot of time to test out difficulty balance with everything. We hope to add some more Cards, Enemy Types and Levels if and when we work on it more post jam.

This was actually pretty fun play once I figured out how to put the cards on the towers :) And then to watch it even speeded up :) I got maxi to round 4 hihi but first then I saw that my Cogs added up by each destroyed cog after the attack started, so I realized that I can get more towers and adjust my strategy even during the game :) so I finaly finished the 5 round and hey, there was another level :)) This is a good concept and I can imagine many levels with building up chalenges :) Good job!

Developer

We are glad that you enjoyed the game and caught on to how the Cogs and rounds and levels work pretty quickly! Yes, we would love to create more Cards, Enemies and Levels for more strategy, choices and challenges!

Nice game! I like being able to choose what power-ups go to which towers and being able to switch them around is handy.

I'm a big tower defense fan. I like the game.

Developer

Awesome, glad to hear that you enjoyed it! There is a lot put into it behind the scenes.

I don't really play tower defense games, but this one was just addicting as hell. It has a great vibe, and a good challenge. I'm a skip-tutorials kinda guy, so I didn't really know how to play at first, but its really simple to learn, and the vibes are really soothing. Great job

Developer

Thanks so much for the review and feedback! Glad you had a great time and I hope that we can add some more Cards for sure, along with Enemy Types and Levels too!

Did you get past all 3 levels?

Submitted

unfortunately I couldnt beat the last one lol

Developer(+1)

I was curious because we made Level 3 quite hard lol

Pretty fun, good job

Thank you!

This game has such a cool idea and is fun to play. I really like the early stages where you have to decide which turrets get which upgrades, it does get a little too easy after that and you can just start spamming stuff down tho. Also might be cool to add a way to sell cards in your hand? But anyway a good game!

Developer

Thanks so much for the review and feedback!

Yes, we didn't end up with a whole lot of time for balance once we put in all of the features and fixed several bugs that cropped up. We would love it if we get time post jam to make more cards and work on balancing the levels more and adding more levels and enemies as well!

It can definitely get easy, especially depending on what cards you end up with to slot into your towers! Were you able to make it past all 3 levels?

This take on a game that involves gambling and strategy is genuinely interesting and powerful, opening up multiple channels for potential synergies and depth in the game.

Developer

Thanks! Is there anything particular that you liked or disliked with it? How far did you end up getting?

I like the idea of mixing cards with tower defense .. in the implementation what you need is more feedback, I had to click around to find out, but a better UI and feedback could make it more clear how to play it ...  for instance I still do not know what makes some cards not playable from time to time .. perhaps the number of cogs idk, this is a nice idea, needs more polishing though ... the tutorial is very good btw (and ofcourse I only watched it after trying the game)

Developer

Ah, thanks so much for the feedback! Yeah, we didn't get to spend very long playtesting with anyone before release; that is very good info though! The main reason you wouldn't be able to play a card on a Tower is that the Tower has no more open slots to place the Card in; you would need to take a card out from the Tower and place back in your hand, and then drag the new card onto the Tower. We could definitely develop the UI and the UX a lot more given more time. Thanks!

maybe with some hover effects the UI could tell me that I cannot replace a card in a tower, maybe the tower cards could have distinct visuals so they dont get mistaken for normal cards .. I mean the idea is great, the UI with some work could do the job of 'teaching' how to play more naturally, using proper feedback and effects

Developer

Oh yeah, for sure. All of the cards in the game and in your game are "tower cards". It should show a red X when you are NOT able to drop a card on a Tower because that Tower's slots are full. (Actually I just tried it and it does show a red cancel icon, but it is so small that it is not noticeable lol)

I do understand that it could be more descriptive in showing or explaining why you can't though, or even better, allowing you drop a card on an already slotted card to replace the slotted card with the dropped card.

Great idea on using some hover effects though!

I really like the mechanics of this game. The giving players tower variety through different cards that interact with each other is clever. Plus gambling. I think if you were going to add to it, different types of cards could go a long way. I also got confused initially by the tutorial. I didn't realise the towers were the things you placed, I assumed the object on the left of the screen was the tower. So i spent five minutes trying to place cards on said wrong tower. Cool entry.

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for the solid feedback! Means a lot. Yes, we would love to make more cards to give more variety; unfortunately the other mechanics and systems took up time for creating cards haha

Good point on the tutorial too, especially since your base does look like a tower!

On point for the theme. It was annoying that taking damage and destroying an attacker make the same sound. In close quarters, there’s no easy way to tell whether I got the attacker in time.

Developer

That's really good feedback! Didn't even consider that but makes sense. Thanks for playing and taking time to post.

hi, playtested your game,

small suggestion in tutorial section need more interactions with game.

Developer

Hey, thanks for playing. Appreciate the feedback on the tutorial. It's a glorified slideshow right now due to limited time and prioritizing gameplay over it. That the player hand is somewhat interactable was a happy coincidence :) Again, thanks for playing and the feedback!
