UPDATE NEW WINNERS (Please forgive me for my mistake)

Let me start off with saying this is obviously my first game jam I've ever done, and I have made a fair share of mistakes the entire way through. (And I would've been even more lost without the help of friends)

I announced winners last night because I thought it was the scores averaged out, and I realized it was ONLY on use of theme, which was the most important, but not the ONLY imporant judging factor.

I am going to be playing loads of games on stream today and the average top 10 from the catagories will get sent to 5 jurors to have the 3 winners decided in 48-72 hours.

I am so sorry for the inconvience I have layed upon the winners I already announced, I will be compensating some money for my mistake to you guys.

As for everyone else, good luck and please forgive my transgressions.

Again I am so sorry, this is my first jam, I will learn from my mistakes and I hope to see all of you in the future game jams,

My opinion regarding changing the winners...

I鈥檓 honestly feeling pretty sad about this.

When the results first came out and I saw that I placed, I was really, really happy. I told my parents right away, and they were proud of me because they actually saw how much time I put into this — staying up late, fixing bugs, trying to make everything work, and also taking time to rate other people鈥檚 games properly.

So seeing this new announcement suddenly was kind of shocking. It just didn鈥檛 feel good at all.

I understand that this is your first time hosting a jam, and I鈥檓 not trying to hate or anything. Everyone makes mistakes, and I respect that you鈥檙e trying to fix it.

But at the same time, changing the results after they were already announced feels really unfair to the people who originally won. For us, it wasn鈥檛 just a ranking — it actually meant something, especially after all the effort we put in.

I just wish there was a better way to handle this without completely changing the outcome like this. Even something that still respects the original winners in some way.

I just hope you can see why this feels unfair from our side.

Hi sir, Thank you for addressing this previous mistake. I have a question regarding the final rankings: Will the top 10 be determined solely by the average public vote, or will there be Your picks as well?

In a jam with a prize pool, public voting can sometimes be biased, as participants are naturally competitive.  I believe this had led to many great games to not be near the top 10s .I believe it would be more fair if you could also include games that you believe deserves to be on the list. That said, I truly appreciate the decision to prioritize overall ratings over individual categories.

Thank you!!

I think Gunscreen should have, or should have had, played all the games and personally scored them. It鈥檚 understandable that the more games there are, the more time this task requires, but if we—or at least a large part of us—were able to play them all, and we鈥檙e not even dedicated streamers, then I think it should be even more manageable for him.

Besides, this is content he could use for his channel—I mean, reviewing and rating horror games. I was expecting him to make a video like that, but featuring the Game Jam entries.

Well, it鈥檚 only a recommendation in the end. That鈥檚 also why I posted much earlier asking how he planned to handle the judging, but apparently it was never seen and went unnoticed.
