So this game seems to be partially a matter of rote memorization, which I'd be willing to put up with, except that the level progression itself seems botched in a way that I don't fully understand. Every time I died, the upper-left text said I was back at level 0 even though it didn't look like I was on the starting level. The levels don't seem to be randomly generated either (not that I'd want them to be), as I'd get the same level three times in a row before progressing to the next one, only to die and get sent back. If it was as simple as restarting the level you're on when you die and the UI telling you as much, I think I'd have gotten much further than I did.

Hi, and thank you for playing my game. The reason for this botched level progression is due to me making the game semi random. I was originally planning for the maps to be proceduraly generated, but it ended up being quite difficult to do on my part.

So, I ended up going with a semi random map. I have a pool of pre-made maps, that get cycled through. I wanted to do something sort of like the original Rogue, where there isn't really an end to any of the levels, and that you're supposed to get a high score. I ended up being lazy, and creating just 3 levels.

I should've probably communicated that clearer in the game itself, but I do appreciate your feedback!

This was great, well polished gameplay and thoroughly enjoyable.

This was pretty fun! I really enjoyed the mechanic and game loop but also i rage quit a few times  because there'd situations where I was almost there and then i died.

Developer

Thanks for playing the game! And yeah I also got a bit irritated when I was almost there, but die.

Had a really fun time playing this one both before the jam as a playtester and now too! This game has a lot of charm and I really enjoyed it.

Developer

Thank you for playtesting then, and thanks for the feedback now, I appreciate it very much :D

i had a lot of fun but i had this bug (i think it is one) where i couldnt see nearly anything:

I think it added to the ambience 🔦 (if you focus really hard or look at your screen form a strange angle you can se the red walls)

Developer

Hmm, odd. Do you remember if the game was always like that, or if it happened after something? (like dying)

Either way, I'm thankful that you ended up having fun!

It was always like that but this dose not happen on a windows device

Pretty fun! I liked getting lost in the maze and searching for the next snowflakes and keys.

Although I did feel like once I learned the layouts of the maps I could just B-line it for where I knew I needed to go next. Some sort of procedural generation for the levels would have taken this game to the next level (heh) for me. Also you have music in your credits, but I couldn't hear any in the game. Unsure if that's a bug or not.

thank you for your feedback Egg! I did plan on adding procedurally generated dungeons at a point, but I got a bit lazy. The thing with the music was that I think I must've accidentally muted it inside of the HTML build, hehe

lmaooo, well I say it gave the game an eerie and dark vibe. (its not a bug, its a feature!)
