took some time to understand what is happening but great game overall

Love the PVZ type game, but the shovel mechanic does not work? Or there are other inputs needed. I do think a tutorial is much needed for the game to be fun for new comers. Great entry!

Love me a plants vs zombies style game. Took me a bit to work it out but was fun playing!

Nice tower defense game with upgrades. I liked the overall gameplay loop and especially the upgrading. Here are a few things which could improve the game:

  • Some music would be really cool. The current sound is a bit repetitive
  • I would show health bars (or something similar) for the enemies and your turrets. This way you see when they will be destroyed
  • Using ESC for back is not the best option, as at least for my browser I leave the full screen when I click on ESC
  • Would be cool if you can directly upgarde something after the first level. Or maybe it was just because I played very bad in the first level :)

Congratulations to this nice tower defense game!

Thank you for playing our game, hope you enjoyed it. We really appreciate the suggestions for health bars and the ESC key The pacing at the start is a bit slow, so we will fix that to allow earlier upgrades. Thanks again for the great feedback

It takes a little time to fully understand the gameplay, but the mechanics are really interesting and fit the jam theme perfectly. The levels are also quite challenging! Great job!

Developer

To be honest, we had forgotten about adding tutorials level, but anyways, thank you very much for playing our game.

Interesting Plants vs Zombies clone with the twist of two resources.  The game is actually quite fun/addicting, and I enjoyed spamming normal turret upgrades. Also appreciate that the game remembers my progress, even after I reload the page. Some qualms with it are that the audio is a bit monotonous and that the art/color choices aren't very thoughtful, probably because it was generated by AI. Instructions for what key to press to escape and other instructions shouldn't be grayed out in a corner or blended in with the background but it was visible enough to see it after looking hard enough. Fun game

Thank you very much!!

These slow-moving robots make me fear them more than usual.

Love that I have situations like I need to readjust or think about distance while they move on me

The speed-up button seems not to be working? Sometimes I just really want to rewind :)

Good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing our game. I glad you enjoyed it, the speed-up button may have some bugs, we'll verify them as soon as we can!

A very solid take on a PvZ game. You bring a mechanical vibe to the genre perfect for the game jam. The gameplay was slow to start but once upgrades came in the impact is felt. Overall its a great entry into the Gamedev.js Jam and really has the cogs to be developed further. Well done.

Developer

Thank you for playing our game, hope you enjoyed it. It is awesome that you saw the potential for further development. We will improve the slow pacing at the start in future updates. Thanks for playing and leaving a great review

Machine Defense wears its PvZ inspiration proudly — and it works. The real standout is the modular tower system, which breathes fresh life into the TD formula.

Gameplay feels crisp and responsive, and the upgrade paths are satisfying to explore. My only real complaint is the audio: the SFX are fine, but there's a constant hum or buzz in the music that became grating over time.

That aside, I had a genuinely good experience overall.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing our game, hope you enjoyed it. We are thrilled that you liked the gameplay and the PvZ vibe. Sorry about the grating hum in the audio. We experimented with procedural sound generation and it clearly needs more balancing. Thanks for pointing it out.

The concept isn't immediately obvious; it feels like it could benefit from a tutorial or some initial guidance. From the start, I sensed a vibe reminiscent of Plants vs. Zombies. The somewhat cybernetic aesthetics add a distinct flavor to the game. I believe there is plenty to explore here.

Developer

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback. You are completely right about the need for a tutorial. We unfortunately ran out of time to add a proper guide. We are really glad you caught the PvZ vibe and enjoyed the cybernetic aesthetics, PvZ was our main inspired of. Btw, Thanks for playing

liked the concept, a lil bit difficult to understand at first, but a great idea and game!

Developer

Thank you for giving it a try and for the kind words. We know the modular crafting system can be a bit tricky to grasp at first without a tutorial. We are thrilled that you liked the concept and had fun once you got the hang of it.

Nice game, I really enjoyed the flow of it and got in the rhythm after a short while. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing. It is awesome to hear that you got into the rhythm of the game.

I liked the concept, but would be better if you can set a faster pace, because it`s pretty slow at the start. It remembers me a little to PvZ

Developer

Thank you for playing our game, hope you enjoying it. The game is inspired a lot on PvZ, and we were working on balancing and pacing, but we cant make it on time.

I liked the concept, the only thing I'd like is for the game's pacing to be a bit faster. The mechanics and upgrades look really good, though.

Developer

Thank you for playing our game, hope you enjoying it. We are very appreciate your review, that's helped us a lot, we will upgrade the game as soon as we can!
