Love the PVZ type game, but the shovel mechanic does not work? Or there are other inputs needed. I do think a tutorial is much needed for the game to be fun for new comers. Great entry!
Nice tower defense game with upgrades. I liked the overall gameplay loop and especially the upgrading. Here are a few things which could improve the game:
- Some music would be really cool. The current sound is a bit repetitive
- I would show health bars (or something similar) for the enemies and your turrets. This way you see when they will be destroyed
- Using ESC for back is not the best option, as at least for my browser I leave the full screen when I click on ESC
- Would be cool if you can directly upgarde something after the first level. Or maybe it was just because I played very bad in the first level :)
Congratulations to this nice tower defense game!
It takes a little time to fully understand the gameplay, but the mechanics are really interesting and fit the jam theme perfectly. The levels are also quite challenging! Great job!
Interesting Plants vs Zombies clone with the twist of two resources. The game is actually quite fun/addicting, and I enjoyed spamming normal turret upgrades. Also appreciate that the game remembers my progress, even after I reload the page. Some qualms with it are that the audio is a bit monotonous and that the art/color choices aren't very thoughtful, probably because it was generated by AI. Instructions for what key to press to escape and other instructions shouldn't be grayed out in a corner or blended in with the background but it was visible enough to see it after looking hard enough. Fun game
These slow-moving robots make me fear them more than usual.
Love that I have situations like I need to readjust or think about distance while they move on me
The speed-up button seems not to be working? Sometimes I just really want to rewind :)
Good job!
A very solid take on a PvZ game. You bring a mechanical vibe to the genre perfect for the game jam. The gameplay was slow to start but once upgrades came in the impact is felt. Overall its a great entry into the Gamedev.js Jam and really has the cogs to be developed further. Well done.
Machine Defense wears its PvZ inspiration proudly — and it works. The real standout is the modular tower system, which breathes fresh life into the TD formula.
Gameplay feels crisp and responsive, and the upgrade paths are satisfying to explore. My only real complaint is the audio: the SFX are fine, but there's a constant hum or buzz in the music that became grating over time.
That aside, I had a genuinely good experience overall.
The concept isn't immediately obvious; it feels like it could benefit from a tutorial or some initial guidance. From the start, I sensed a vibe reminiscent of Plants vs. Zombies. The somewhat cybernetic aesthetics add a distinct flavor to the game. I believe there is plenty to explore here.
liked the concept, a lil bit difficult to understand at first, but a great idea and game!
Nice game, I really enjoyed the flow of it and got in the rhythm after a short while. Great job!
I liked the concept, but would be better if you can set a faster pace, because it`s pretty slow at the start. It remembers me a little to PvZ
I liked the concept, the only thing I'd like is for the game's pacing to be a bit faster. The mechanics and upgrades look really good, though.
