  • Quite a unique game! While it did get extremely hard once multiple succubi appeared, it wasn't like any content was barred from players since that difficulty skyrocketed. A nice touch was seeing some minor 'Expansion' before a final burst of it when an enemy was defeated.
  • I love me a good shooter, and this is quite a good shooter. It plays as well as any DOOM-like should, with smooth movement, simple yet effective gunplay and appropriately fast movement speed, making for a wonderful player experience. While there are only two enemy types, I think the game doesn't really need much more in its current state, with the more difficult succubi being a real threat in larger numbers, so it makes sense that the final encounter would be a horde rather than a boss. The stylization of this was one of my favorite parts, with everything feeling a little crunchy and old-school without being grating. Oddly, the green color scheme of the later levels was a personal favorite, and I am not sure why. Bonus points for secret cat(s). While it's clear that there was a lot of basis from some kind of pre-existing FPS framework, I will not be deducting points from it because the game went to great lengths to be reminiscent of the original doom, with no sprinting, crouching, jumping or even vertical aiming being used at all. A cool way to go back to the classics!
  • This is a very solid Doom clone. The nostalgia was palpable. I would love to see this developed a little further with maybe a couple more enemy types, weapons (with ammo drops), and a proper boss to cap the game off.
  • A cool doom inspired game. While short it was a fun game where every turn or corner has enemies spawning out, keeping you on your toes to make sure your prepared. Pregnancy content is present in the game but only limited to defeated enemies. I like the concept of enemies becoming pregnant when defeated, just wish there was more pregnancy focused in the game outside of that. Gameplay is good and didn't encounter any bugs which is a good sign. When I started the game you had lots of bullets and I usually battled every enemy I came across. Toward the end of the game I started to run out and gave a fun sense of urgency of preserving ammunition while dodging enemies. Creativity wise it was nice to see two different enemy types as well as a level and weapon change. Jam theme wise I felt this game struggled to fit it. The enemies will quickly progress in pregnancy when defeated and you could say possibly progression though the dungeon counts too. If anything would be cool if the enemy art changed based on the damage and the pregnancy slowly grows. Overall cool project!

How charming and cute.  And it certainly captures that claustrophobic feeling like it's inspiration of spraying and praying with a shotgun.

This is my second review after playing the newest version.

First, I want to send praise to the developer who took the criticism of reviews well and applied it, rather than just sitting on it. After playing the recent version, almost all the critiques I had earlier were addressed. This game is on the right path.
Since this is my second time reviewing this, I'll be going rapid fire.

Pregnancy Content: 3/5 (You shoot demons into gravidity, and it's easy to see what you're doing. Quick and efficient.)

Gameplay: 4/5 (It's still the strongest suit of this game. It plays fast and smooth as any Doom-like game should. Very satisfying.)

Creativity: 4/5 (The addition of music wasn't asked for, but was greatly welcomed. I found myself getting into the game that much easier.)

Jam Theme: 3/5 (Now that I can see the effects of the gun, it's great to see how the demons progress. And, in reverse, if you leave them alone, they shrink. A nice way to see a form of health progress.)

Overall: 3.5/5 (This was an impressive glow up, and shows what happens when someone takes criticism and turns it into a learning experience. This game was fun, and I look forward to the developer achieving great heights.)

Interesting take on that genre, the buckshot from the shotty needs some optomizing, keep up the good work

Hello there,

I'm glad you like Hellspawners concept, also the Love Gun has received some updates since this post and I hope you check it out :)

I see the vision. Let me start by saying that it controls well and is very responsive, which is great.
However, blink, and you miss the preggo content. It took me standing still and slowly shooting the gun to realize that the spawns were growing in size based on how many shots they took until they were too pregnant to move; at first, I thought they were just plopping down upon defeat into a kneeling pose. Keep cooking, and I'm sure that this will spawn (pardon the pun) into a satisfying preggo doom-like.

Pregnancy content: 2/5 (If it weren't for the game description, I wouldn't know what the preggo content was)

Gameplay: 4/5 (Controls are responsive, quick, and easy to pick up)

Creativity: 3/5 (I can appreciate the Doom style)

Jam Theme: 2/5 (the progression happens too quickly, and, again, I needed the game description to grasp the progression)

Overall:  2.75/5 (If you ask me, a few tweaks to the pacing would go far. Such as slowing down how fast the enemies become pregnant and grow. Some visual tweaks could go far too, such as shading and posing (that's not to say the art is bad, as I think it's good).)

Hello there and thank you for the feedback.

Over the past 2 weeks I have been working on the game with some creative guidance from the feedback I have received.

Since your original post Hellspawner has undergone a lot of drastic changes which I hope you'll enjoy. In regards to the original Imp models they have not only received a splash of colour since the original post but they have even undergone a facelift in making the pregnancy belly they sport more pronounced and rotund to the players eye. There has also been another demon added in the form of the Succubus who also gets pretty gravid upon defeat.

I once again thank you for the feedback as it was the kick in the butt I needed to continue development on Hellspawner. :)

That's awesome!
I look forward to seeing the changes!
