  • Very charming idea, especially for a first game and first jam! I like that it tries to be more than a simple platformer, with multiple gnomes, levers, ingredients, machines, and a little production chain. The core concept has personality and could become a very fun chaotic puzzle game!

Thanks for playing! First of many to come from me using Defold!

Nice job on your first game! I like the funny idea of gnomes making ice cream. I think switching the jump button to spacebar would make more sense, and having Z be grab instead. Also, I never ended up switching gnomes because it was easier to just use one. You could section them off and force the player to pass ingredients between gnomes to make that feature more useful. Keep up the good work!

Thank you! I am honestly really moved by the encouragement I'm getting. Makes me want to make more games that are more polished haha.

And yea, I really wanted to make the gameplay about passing things around. Focused too much on the throwing mechanics and not enough on the level design. Lesson learned haha

That's all good! Game jams are all about learning, and receiving feedback from a community of people who are learning as well. And sometimes it takes longer than you think to get something working and that throws your plan out the window haha. I've had that happen to me a couple of times. Learning to accurately gauge the scope of your game to fit it in the time window is challenging, but it's a really useful skill in the long run!

I really like the idea of this so its a shame you didnt get the chance to finish it but for a first project its a great effort well done! Hope you can keep working on it!

Thank you very much! It definitely was a ride and I learned a lot from the experience. Thanks for trying it ! This is my first attempt at game ever and there are hopefully many more to come!

I put a bunch of ice creams in the top chute and a bunch of cones in the bottom chute, but then nothing happened? Then I did more of it, and more nothing happened. The score stayed at zero. Is there an extra step I might have missed? Nothing I was doing required the need for two extra gnomes so that had me a bit puzzled. I kept trying to pick them up and make ice cream out of them.

At any rate, for your first game ever, this is a great showing!

Hello, Thanks for playing it!

The original idea was to combine both  parts into ice cream, have a human order ice cream with certain colored scoops, and have a single player 'Overcooked' sort of experience with the multiple gnomes. In the end, I got stuck doing a few things since I didn't understand the Engine quite enough and that's why it's incomplete. I definitely over scoped this one lol. Thanks for trying it !
