Interesting ideas and catchy vibes.
There are some interesting ideas and a nice vibe in this track. The melody is catchy and sticks in your head easily. I also like the way the hammer is used, it gives the rhythm a fun, slightly repetitive feel that works really well. Overall, it’s really enjoyable :)
yo tonewolf this has such a nice repeatable melody. I feel like I could actually leave it on in the background and let it play for ages, it does well not get boring. I would say maybe the composition atm is not really helping the melody come alive per se, but you've definitely showcased the melody! Nice job
Hearing a very positive blacksmith who must certainly bring sunshine everywhere they go!
I'd enjoy some different chords/harmonic ideas here and there so the story can take on more depth, currently it's a bit repetitive but doesn't overstay its welcome. The progression of the song is a bit linear which isn't bad per se but could be more interesting. I'd appreciate it if you could elaborate on your story / ideas so I can better see your imagining of the theme.
Nice overall. Brought me a smile for the major-ness of it :)
Really nice, mellow track. I appreciate the focus on the main melody, which is important for this jams assignment. This also speaks to me as a fan of modern fantasy synth music, which is often repetitive and uses lo-fi sounds to create a certain aesthetic.
The track is maybe a bit too relaxed for something weapon themed though, and could have more of a development. Now it's less of a memorable theme melody, and more video game background music, not that there is anything wrong with that!
Melody Clarity 5/5
The melody is very clear, nothing feels confusing or hard to follow.
Melody Impact 3/5
I think the melody is memorable enough, but maybe lacks in impact. This is something that relates to the rest of the arrangement as well, but there isn't much of an emotional payoff here, or a climax or a high point.
Composition 2/5
The form is well thought out here, you have an intro and then a couple of different melodic sections. I just think they should be much more contrasting, the melody itself kind of goes off at the 50 second mark, but the rest of the track doesn't follow. Not sure if this makes sense, but now the track feels like a chord loop with some horn improv on top, instead of a deliberate composition with a sense of development and forward momentum.
Listenability 3/5
I think it's a pleasant listen, but can get repetitive after a while.
Correlation to Theme 3/5
I can hear what you were going for, but I think the track lacks the intensity to portray either a weapon or a weapon maker. If the Blacksmith is on a mission, I think the track should convey their struggles and resolve a bit better through more tension and power.
Overall a solid track, I could see this work in a fantasy game. For portraying a blacksmith in particular, I think it needs more weight, and I think adding more overall contrast and movement could work with making it less of a background piece and more of a leading theme.
A very interesting mix!
Thank you! :
You're Welcome!
Very nice and charming track, I love the main melody, which comes through really clear and sets a nice uplifting vibe.
I would have to agree with Eetu about the lack of variation; it could also be good to tweak the volume of the tuba/horn (whatever the deep brass is) to be a tad quieter and then bring the volume back up when the melody comes through-- this is just an idea of course.
Overall, very nice track! I like the anvil-hitting percussion in the back, and the use of only brass instruments is very cool to me, well done! :D
Thank you, very much! I do appreciate the constructive criticism/advice. Anything to help me be a better composer.
I'm not sure why but, as soon as I saw the artwork, horns sounded in my head, and the anvil sound to drive it. Thank you for listening and I'm glad you liked it. :)
Melody nice and really upbeat, the blacksmith is setting out on their mission i guess? 😄
The backing parts do get pretty repetitive after a while, so maybe having some more changes to the backing parts as the track progresses might help make it feel like its progressing more.
But still, good work!
Thank you! I appreciate the valuable feedback.
The blacksmiths mission is to forge the weapon of legend, and an important mission it is. The fate of the world depends on his success! 🤓💪
