I really like the melody and the arrangement, as well as how the track is structured. The intensity builds up nicely throughout, and I like the mood change around 1:24, with the tension that comes in after that :)
yo Redwindago this was a great track. The horns made me laugh cos it sounds like a pop song I just couldn't remember the name but it's always a very clear memorable melody. And I really liked the orchestration, especially the low end, felt very strong and brought the melody to life!
This is a really awesome soundtrack, & one of the best soundtracks I heard lately! I hope you get in at least the Top 3 Places. Good Luck, & really cool job you did!
Sounded great! Melody was clear and I see how the idea was carried through the piece. Your use of the orchestra VSTs sounded great.
I really dig this piece. Well orchestrated and very on point for the theme. Great work!
I really love the brass & String Runs on this soundtrack! Also, the woodwinds sound very interesting. I also like how Bright the overall song sounds like... Sounds like something straight from a Professional Concert!
Thank you so much! A large portion of this was inspired by John Williams, and he is the king of brass and woodwind accenting.
I'm lucky enough to have a friend who records and mixes orchestras for a living and I've gotten a lot of tips from him over the years. I sort of mimic what he does to try to emulate the "real" feel as much as possible..
That's pretty cool! Probably the most famous person that I'm inspired by is Jeromy Soule, & his Skyrim OST. (That's what got me into Orchestral Music in the first place)
A lot of the instruments seem a little over compressed and very tightly panned in the mix, it makes some portions (like around the 1:20-1:40 section) sound a little blown out. It's not bad composition wise but there are some segments that're a little roughly mixed.
Nice work though.
It's interesting that you say that. There is no compression on any individual instrument. The only compression is on the mix bus. It's a 2:1 ration only hitting 2db of compression on the drum peaks. Other than that the whole mix is uncompressed. As far as panning goes I kept the default panning on the Spitfire Audio Orchestra Pro instruments that were used. Not stereo widening was added either so it's pretty standard.
I'm glad that you enjoyed the composition though.
Just checked your submission bro, pretty fire orchestration bro, but in my opinion, could be better in keeping common melody no? I kinda got lost in hearing your stuff. But still, I see the imagination in it and only wish I thought of doing overtones like yours...
Thanks for listening and giving me your thoughts. Thisbis my first game jam really. I'm still wrapping my head around writing "game: style of music. After listening to other entries I think I went in too much of a film score style direction which made the melody a bit more nuanced.
Anyways thanks for listening to it.
Same goes for me man, this is still my 2nd ever game jam thing-a-majig, still learning to do better (spiderman quote)
I'd say youre doing great. Your drum work was fantastic and you kept a really epic feel the whole time. Yours being less musically busy than mine would likely fit a game much better.
