  • I like the character design and the inclusion of training mode. It's definitely a strong start and I could see it becoming an interesting game if developed further. I would suggest moving the character down a little bit as there seems to be a lot of empty negative space at the bottom of the screen which causes the character to get cut off when jumping.
  • The axe mechanic was quite nice, shame that the game couldn't be finished more. Still, it's a good start!
  • I like the axe pickup/throw/return mechanics a lot, very clever. It does feel a little early in development but with some additional dev time this could be quite cool.
  • I adore the main character, and I hope to see more from him, even if it's just finishing up the one guy. give him more options to do with the axe too. this is so cool

This main character is incredible and just oozes with personality. Your art and animation style (and the suggestion that this will be a Eldritch-horror-world) instantly has me. I don't know if the weapon-pickup stuff is going to be a theme for every character in the game but I -adore- how it feels to do axe-oki and then use the weapon-pickup to extend links off the chain. It's a really great idea you can expand on and you clearly have the vision to make it work. I hope to see more!!

The axe picking up mechanic is unique to this character, but most/all of the characters we thought of had some similar sort of condition/stance idea to kinda mix up decision-making! It was originally gonna have a bit more sauce with specials that interact with the axe more (in the air, from a distance, etc.), but we're all very new to game dev/jams and bit off a lot more than we could chew in a month lol (was super fun and a great learning experience though!)

The second character we were hoping to make (maybe some time after the voting period, if we can manage it?) leans a little more into the eldritch side of things: a hungry spider monster that starts with a mask and flowy silken clothes and then has specials/supers that rip those to pieces/weave them together again to swap between a kinda tricksy setplay/whiff-punishing character and a just nothing but crazy rushdown and pressure options character.

Glad that you liked it! And yeah, super incredibly happy with what our artists put together, they're a delight to work with and I love what they make.

So I was playing this game, right? I was having fun waving and wacking about as the suave and awesome executioner— when suddenly... I see... Freddy Fazbear.. He's just standing there, staring at me with his big nose and friendly but deceptive facade. I just froze when seeing this... why is Mr. Fazbear in this game? And you have to keep in mind this was at the dead of night so I was kinda scard. His presence was never disclosed in the itch.io page so I was just so befuddled as to why I was seeing him before me. But.. against my better judgement, seeing as this clearly was a glitch in the system, I approached the animatronic bear... And he said something to me that I'll never forget. Now, don't laugh at me when I say this because it's 100% true. This is what I heard: "hor hor hor hor hor hor hor hor hor hor".

I was never very superstitious and I didn't believe in ghouls and ghosts before this, but, something about the way he looked at me with his dead eyes and flapped those iron lips of his to the tune of the Toreador March made me really reconcider my stance on the paranormal. "Was that really him?" I asked myself many times when going to bed that night. I think my final conclusion is this: if you see a Freddy Fazbear suspiciously standing around in someone's video game........... don't go kiss him i mean go near him

Awesomsauce game btw
