Judge feedback is anonymous and shown in a random order.

  • Extremely cool gameplay mechanic idea and awesome character designs, though in practice, it's held back by some manner of jankiness while moving around and executing moves. Nonetheless, an awesome and distinct game that left an impression on me after playing, would love to see the concept refined and given more time to spread its wings!
  • The presentation is top notch and the idea of having a high risk indie Killer Instinct is GREAT! I wish to see this refined later down the line. The controls felt a little clunky at times, but with just a little more polish I can see this game working like a charm! The movie aesthetic is just too cool.
  • Love the aesthetic and horror / VHS presentation. Felt a little stiff and some inputs were difficult to pull off, but overall, a really promising start.
  • I like the overall movie theme, and it's quite ambitious to try and do a sort of simplified KI. It did feel sometimes like it was a little too easy to randomly get a breaker, and sometimes I would get broken while I thought I was doing an ender. Also, some move animations felt like they needed to be a little snappy--one character's DP was pretty floaty, for instance. I was also a little bummed that the skeleton wasn't playable, so I look forward to that in a future update.
  • From the jam version, there's an incredibly solid game, the main feedback I'd give is potentially having a bit of an overall speed increase and some better feedback on hit. I can't wait to see what else this game can bring. I already adore your characters and the general vibe of the game is fantastic.

First of all, I love the art and characters. I also like the idea for the combo system. Obviously very KI, but having to cash out damage with enders and potentially having that damage applied to you if broken is very neat idea.  However, the game is little rough around the edges, and the pace is weirdly sluggish even when hitting combos. It makes doing cancels and mash combos feel very strange, but I might just be used to KI's combo rhythm. I could see this being very fun with a little more development to really hone the gameplay and add more features/mechanics. I will say I'm sold on the vibes and world with both the feature creature concept, and the execution with character art/sprites. It's all very appealing.

(p.s. I can believe yall would tease a fencing skeleton wearing a big feathered hat, and not have them playable. smh.)
