Hi! Streaming your game now:

Developer

hey, thank you so much for recording this!
I really appreciate you trying to get as far as you can despite the confusions and glitches - and seeing them confirmed the problems I was suspecting and showed me a few new ones.

It seemed like building was very confusing - in your video I can see that the hotbar did not have block names shown (it worked on my DPI) - so you have no idea which wheel is left or right. you also clicked on the hotbar which placed the block in the world - so you started seeing red until you kept extending from that awkward block. i have ideas to fix all of these, and I'm sorry it was more confusing than it needed to be!

Very cool-looking game with a lot going on! Unfortunately, I found it pretty hard to get the vehicle builder open. I swear I clicked on that button a few times and nothing happened. Once I was in the builder, the pieces just stayed red, and I couldn't place them. I walked around and mined some stuff with the axe, but it seems like the tutorial wasn't updating. I suspect the mining needs to happen with the machine. The world you built is really impressive. I think the tutorial could have just been a bit more streamlined. I also fell through the map once. Great work and keep it up!

damn, I'm sorry about your experience! tbh I struggle with the button pad myself (the keys in the corner show when its clickable). the blocks were likely red because you've accidentally pressed and placed the first block somewhere - so the 2nd one was red because it had to be attached to the first.

I really appreciate you trying despite the issues, and hope you give it another try once I fix things up!

Amazing graphics for a web game. This is an ambitious project in two ways: destructible environments AND vehicle building. For the destructive environment - it worked OK, it doesn't look to be physics based, is it? Have you considered using voxels? I've seen a few commercial projects which use them precisely because they are suitable for destruction.

One suggestion from me is to spawn the character right in front of the button and place a diagetic indicator  (in the game world itself) or at least an indicator at the center of the screen. It's easy to miss the menu on the side and it has a lot of text - the button is not highlighted.

Good luck with this! It will be interesting to see where it goes.

hey, thank you for your comments!
not sure what exactly you mean by physics based - but it is using voxels (and you can even see different densities of different materials resulting in different destruction). I know the feel of drilling and mining is not where I'd like it to be, which is likely where you are coming from.

And your suggestion is in line with what I have in mind but didn't make in time for the jam, so I hope you give it another try in the future!
Thanks again!

Oh, it is voxels! Awesome - you have a solid foundation. I was suspicious it is voxels because the geometry seems like polygons/vertices/triangles. Well, I'm not so knowledgeable in graphics.

I will try to track the progress.

Wow this is a very ambitious game for a game jam, but I am impressed with what you were able to put together. Unfortunately I struggled quite a bit to put a vehicle together. It looks like there were either some glitches or it is not as straight forward as I have expected it. Performance for such games in the web is always a bit an issue, especially for people without a gaming PC. Maybe a release as a standalone game is better suited.

Congratulations to this very ambitious game and I think you have already a good start for a fun game.

thank you for giving it a try, and I'm sorry the building wasn't as straightforward - I hope you give it another try once I polish it more

pretty complex project to take on a game jam, exploration feels neat, I feel performance gets a bit slower inside the station.

Looking good, please continue to development.

I dug to the sky :) implementing the digging mechanics probably wasn't easy

You made a TerraTech/Minecraft hybrid for a jam, good job!

This is really ambitious for a two week jam build. I can tell a lot went into this, especially with the procedural generation.

There’s some clipping and you can definitely fall through the map in spots, but I’m not going to knock that too hard knowing how tricky procedural systems can get, especially on a tight timeline like this.

Overall this is really impressive. There’s a strong foundation here and I’d honestly be curious to see what this turns into as a full project.

thank you for your kind words! the terrain holes were actually a unity bug in webgl, which I couldn't figure out in time

There are some glitches, but the idea is beautiful. However, the drilling systems are somewhat difficult for GameJam, and honestly, I'm impressed by what I see.

Developer

thank you! appreciate you calling the idea beautiful
