Hi! Streaming your game now:

Developer

Thank you so much for streaming my game! 🙂 Hearing you laugh while playing genuinely made my day.  And I'm glad you noticed the musical notes… they sometimes decide to stay a little longer than expected 😅🫂

Thanks again for the kind words!

Story, visuals and sound are great.

The gameplay is a bit, erm... experimental? I like the boss-fight, but it comes down to (single-)button-smashing.

First i thought, i should jump in the rythm of the music, but that changed nothing (or my rythm was totally off, haha)

Developer

Thank you so much!

“Experimental” is probably the right word 😅
The boss fight isn’t rhythm-based, but I really like that you tried to follow the music, that actually tells me a lot about how players read the game.

I’m still learning how to communicate the gameplay better, so feedback like this helps a lot.

Really happy you enjoyed the story, visuals and sound!

visuals and music are great rest i don't know what to do

Developer

Thank you for trying it and for the feedback 🙂

You're not alone, a few players felt a bit lost at first. The idea is to explore and experiment rather than follow clear instructions, but I’m realizing I might have made it too unclear 😅

I really appreciate you giving it a shot (and the kind words about visuals and music)!

Very cute little game. Very good work with the visuals. There was a few things that werent too clear. Is there multiple endings for the game?

Either way awesome work!!

Developer

Thank you so much! I'm really happy you liked the visuals 🙂

Yes, there are 3 different endings. Some of them are a bit harder to discover, so you might not see all of them on a first playthrough.

I intentionally kept it a little mysterious, but maybe too mysterious 😅
I'm learning that sometimes players appreciate small hints!

Thanks again for playing and for the kind words!

iMauri has done great work with the music and art. Unfortunately for me after defeating the first boss the game seems to be stuck. I see in the description that the exit button (the one that looks like a pulsating vein right?) may not work I guess that is the issue. But also I see in the description "3 endings depending on..." <== is that in the jam build or planned for later?

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing and for the kind words about the music and art, it really means a lot 🙂

Yes, the jam build already includes 3 different endings. Each run can lead somewhere different depending on the cassette you are given during the playthrough.

About the exit button: you understood correctly! There is a fake/broken ending… but it seems it may have broken a little too well 😅 I’m investigating that.

I'm really curious, which ending did you get?

If you played on Wavedash, there should also be an anonymous leaderboard there based on completion time.

Thanks again for playing and for reporting this 🙏

Ah, I understand now. You should include that in the description: "depending on the cassette you are given during the playthrough". That is much more clear than how it is written there.

I think I got the green one. And what is the difference between them? "The rarer the tape, the deeper the change." What changes? You need to make these things clear unless you intend to keep them mysterious and the player to figure it out. For me right now the only difference is the colour :D

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks again for the thoughtful feedback 🙂

You’re right, I’ll clarify the description so the cassette system is easier to understand.

The colours do have gameplay differences, but some of their effects only become noticeable once a run goes a bit further or reaches certain endings. Part of it is intentionally mysterious so players can piece things together over multiple runs 🙂

And a small tip from a fellow player: don’t ignore the green tapes 😉

Nice work. But is it that both spacebar & right arrow key are used for jumping?

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! The main control is mouse click: click to jump and click in air to shoot. I probably should make that clearer for PC players 🙂

Submitted(+1)

Love the music.  🎵🎶
It's banger. Gameplay's fun too.

I did find 1 glitch where if you hold down click, you sprint super-fast. 😁🦿

Developer

Thanks a lot! I'm really happy you liked the music 🙂📻

That “glitch” is actually intentional 😄 I made the background scroll faster while holding click to make it feel like you're sprinting, even though there's no real speed boost.

You officially discovered the fake glitch!🤖⏩

Excellent use of color and lighting. Looks professional!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it 🫂

I actually struggled a bit with the overall darkness at the beginning, so it’s really nice to hear that the colors and lighting still come through well 🙂

Thanks again for playing and taking the time to comment!

Quite an innovative game, and also a good match for the theme. I also really liked the music, really cool!

I think it would be even more interesting to play if the final opponent also threw cassettes and thereby nullifying your effect from the cassettes, making a kind of musical duel :D.

Also, the visual transition between scenes is cool, although I still couldn't fully understand whether it started to slow down  FPSor if it was a very smooth transition - in any case looks cool :D.

Also, the final scene with the robots is fun, a kind of atmospheric music club :).

Congratulations, nice game, it was fun!

Developer

Thank you so much, it really means a lot to me that the music came through 🫂 I care about it a lot.

The idea about the boss throwing crates to cancel yours is amazing, I’ll definitely add it in the next update I’m working on right now 🤩

Yes, the transition is intentional, a kind of “broken slow-motion” effect, but you’re absolutely right, I’ll work on making it clearer. Glad you noticed it 🙂

You’ve actually reached ending 1/3 👀 If you feel like replaying it on Wavedash, there’s also a leaderboard. I didn’t manage to fully integrate it visually in the game, but your time is still recorded with a random nickname 🙂

Thanks again for the feedback, it’s truly appreciated!

Cool!

I really enjoyed the transition, as well as the game itself.

Congratulations!

I went back to the game to get 3 different endings, as far as I understand, the color of the cassette drops randomly? Anyway, I did it :D.

I like the footprint-shaped musical note particles.(ツ)ノ

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I'm really happy you noticed those particles, I made them by hand so it means a lot 🤖🎵
I checked your project page too, I love the drum idea and the low-poly setup!  \m/.🙂
