Silly little toy. I’d like to try more level!
definitely fun to drive around in the way most "make a weird thing and roll it" games are.
my first impulse was like, maybe if you got to see the course and set the wheels in advance? but i think something that's cool about this design is being able to change how the wheels are inflated on the fly, so losing that seemed like throwing the baby out with the bath.
the idea of the car's weight being what modifies the wheels is still appealing to me, but maybe changing their setup via a menu would give the player the control they need for the design to come together. I hope you keep playing with this idea!
Part of the fun of the jam is gettin' to prototype something, and it doesn't always work out!
I think if I had a bit more control over the shape of my wheels, it might land better. Or if it was... turn-based? And my wheels would spin based on how big the segments were. Like YOMI Hustle but with wheel and car.
Either way the experiment is cool and I'm always glad to see submissions to the jam. Hope you learned something and give it another go next year!
double the wheels double the fun
My first car was like this...
I'm not totally sure I understand what the Q/E inputs do...
I like how the chunky wheels help you get traction on rough ground, there's definitely something here if you want to expand on it!
The pins start up and locked. If they are down, the corresponding wheel (front or back) will shift with the weight of the car (wedges touching the ground get smaller, and the wedges on the opposite side get bigger). If the pins are up and locked, the wedges don't shift size, so you can lock in a specific tire shape.
hell yea
Both interesting ways to use the lockpicking and the wheel minigames!
Also the ideas you listed in the description sound fun.
As a fan of making cars with janky wheel wheels I applaud your approach!
I like the feeling of the lockpicks! Very neat transmission control.
Really took the Oblivion persuasion WHEEL seriously, huh
great stuffs! pretty sad that you couldn't get the level design to work, because once i got how it works i actually really liked the idea!
