cute idea, good execution.

feels a bit too zoomed for how fast jellies come, one bounced me into the chasing pack and it was over instantly from full hp.  Could also do offscreen indicators for freshly spawned enemies until they enter the screen.

spells have a wide power disparity. winter felt rather useless. light arrows were cool. bubbles felt worthless, mana waste.  fire+light hovering ball was insane.

I think there's too little mana recovery from kills, the game was a lot of dodging for a bit, waiting for mana.

The game progression doesn't feel right, just being in an arena surviving. What changes between plays? adding unlocks when you reach "the boss" and the run ends and not having all elements available so you have to focus on getting a build could be an idea.

I could be missing some stuff, my death bummed me, it's a slow start with the rate of element unlocks and I didn't try tri-element spells or tree/earth element.

Thanks for this feedback.

Mana recovery from channeling elements is not obvious enough, everyone so far has missed it. I'm definitely going to make a better visual.

The demo's progression is just gradually scaling parameters over time right now. It's a testing environment for the real game mode (longer campaign of level-choosing on a map etc), so I appreciate the balance feedback + progression suggestions to specifically improve it.

Also, there is no 3-element combination. It seems to be heavily implied by the visuals but I don't intend for that, I have to work on it. The player is meant to have two unique spells equipped always, but incentivized to flip between elements for other spells or just mana.

tl;dw kinda fun but honestly less fun than the other mode that was like a roguelite mode. I liked that one better. weird resolution stuff going on

I very much appreciate video/reactionary feedback.

I am glad to hear that, since this game mode acts as test for that bigger and cooler mode :D

It sounds like I messed up the window in some way, but is that about the recording or the game window itself? another streamer mentioned that OBS was not liking it either.

I really like the premise and the gameplay, super easy to understand. I think it's missing a way to communicate the player about upcoming shops or level ups and some spells' point of impact seem to land lower than where the cursor is at. Other than that it's great, big fan of the cover art too.

In game notes:

  • The main menu is very complete.
  • New enemy sprites are nice, but they still feel very non-threatening
  • Hard to tell when a level is ending
  • Unclear what “Focus” does, or “mind” (oh I see hold alt now)
  • Dual cast is nerfed with mana, but still soooo fun
  • Almost wish the camera was zoomed out a bit
  • Some feedback when you can’t afford an item would be good
  • Vampire survivors has a "Vacuum" item you pick up sometimes to get all dropped gems. That would be nice, because it’s easy to lose them forever
  • I wish I could not unlock elements, to keep some items more potent
  • No exit button on main menu

Post game thoughts:

This is by far the best build of the game. The mana bar is the perfect balance to most spells, and the new enemies add just a bit of spice and difficulty. I played 4 rounds, and at the end I had a good spell and felt like a godly wizard casting spells all over the place. Very fun.

My biggest gripe is I still don't feel much need to use all the spells, mostly I find two I like, and just spam them. But this really isn't a bad thing, especially as more items get added to make this more viable. Just a note.

Really fun though, this is great progress!
