The de4signs of both the characters feel really cool! Though to be honest the throw mechanic is not very fun to work it, still though I loved the cool animations and the interesting bullet patterns!

game could be better if theres more sound effects or music thougj

GAME WON

Sound aside this was pretty cool! The artwork is great, I love the design of both characters and their animation is also great including when Squid dies. The game controls well, the staging is nice with the hurricanes and such and there are a bunch of different and all cool patterns to dodge, throwing junk is fun and satisfying and the difficulty is appropriate for the jam.

Thanks for sharing!

Really fun concept! I love me a good old boss fight! the 3D bullet patterns were fun to dodge, so were the bombs and the tornadoes. The toon shader works well, and so does the little explode shader when the bombs explode. I will say, and maybe this is unique to the web build, but there's no sound/feed back when picking up the trash, so i cant really tell if im too far away for the F button press to work.
But all in all, good entry!! Congratulations on the finished product!

Pretty cool concept.

I really like the artstyle, these models and animations look crazy good, like actual game that would have come out on the Gamecube good :o

Soundwise it would have been nice to have some music :(

Gameplay wise this feels solid but with some small issues :

  • The remappable controls are a very welcome Qol feature
  • However the lack of option to map any mouse button really hurts the game i.m.o, cause at first since you could only map keyboard keys i thought this was a keyboard only game untill i noticed that you had mouselook. knowing that i would have loved to be able to map the throw to a mouseclick to make things smoother.

Now other than that the concept is great, the bossfight vs the mermaid was engaging with lots of cool patterns so i’ve had a good time trying this ^^

Would be cool to see more added to the game to flesh it out a bit more, but already as a jam entry there’s tons of good work on display. Well done :)

My character got stuck after moving a little bit, and the music didn’t start. Maybe these issues are related to the WebGL version. I liked the toon shader and the visuals overall. Good job!

Ran really well in WebGl for me, so good job getting a 3D game running this smoothly in browser. It looked really good too. The cel-shaded art style reminded me of something close to Borderlands, which I mean as a compliment. Also, great job giving us control remapping. It helped me change up the setup, and I was finally able to beat the mermaid. The mermaid had a good variety of attacks, and some of the bullet patterns looked especially cool.

Also thought I'd share this because I thought I looked super badass after beating her lol.

Hey, thx for your feedback ! Glad you liked it.

On the topic of performances, i'm curious, could you please tell me which web browser you used please ? On my end the web build lagged a lot on Firefox.

I was on Chrome. It ran great on it, really. I might have gotten one small hiccup when first starting the game, but that's it. The gameplay was all smooth sailing from there.

The models on this are beautiful! though i think the game is held back by a few things that i presume didn't make the cut. sound effects and music are non existent (besides the mine) and there's no real visual feedback on when i hit the mermaid (sometimes she does a hit animation but it's hard to tell where i hit that caused it, and the projectiles fly right through her without any kind of particle to show i hit) or when i pick up junk (i stood over the junk piles for a good while, unsure if i had successfully picked anything up for a while)

The concept is really fresh tho! i love this 3d platformer style of shmup, and dodging the bubbles was fun and tight, her move set was varied and interesting and engaging! i honestly think you guys have something here, and it just needs more time in the oven c: great work, i'd love to see more c:

Thx for the feedback.

This is indeed the case, not everything was properly implemented, not enough time so we had to cut corners. Had to crunch a bit to make sure we met the deadline.

A lot of QoL is indeed missing and i'm deeply sorry about that.

oh i hope i didn't come off harsh! i think what's in here is amazing! genuinely! you should be proud of what you've got, our team also did a 3d concept for this jam and the last one we did, so we are very familiar with bits hitting the cutting room floor for time, it's heartbreaking, but what you've made has a lot of merit even without it c: i'm excited to see the finished project if you intend to keep working on it!
