The Nightmare is Over...
It was fun! The game looks good, music is great and I like the button highlighting sound. The two patterns are perfect to make a fun dodging experience, they're readable (which is not a given in 3d) and just hard enough to dodge, and with the starting health of both protagonists the difficulty was perfect for me, it took me a couple of tries exactly like I wanted.
Maybe you could use two different colours of bullets for the two different types of shot.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, I appreciate it!! And I agree, I think if I had the chance to change one more thing, I would've spent it on working on better bullets for both characters, as well as patterns.
Thanks again for playing it and your feedback!! I appreciate it a ton! :]
I love the art style it's very unique. I like how optimized your game is with there being a lot of bullets on screen as well as having enjoyable gameplay
Thank you!! That was definitely something I had to learn the hard way lol.
Very nice looking how-to-play screen. I'm glad you included that to ease me into it. The color palette was really nice too. Everything popped, and the stage looked very pretty. Good job on the models as well; they were really well done. The boss was absolutely horrifying and a thing of nightmares. I'm convinced that thing is an eater of dreams lol.
Also, great job implementing variable jump height and getting the shrink mechanic working. For a first game made in UE5 Blueprints, this is genuinely impressive. There's a lot of potential here, and it's cool seeing an artist-turned-dev start putting these ideas together.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate hearing that!!
There's a lot of potential here. The controls are a bit confusing. But overally this was pretty fun to play. I like the artstyle a lot.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!!
For a first submission this is quite good! why you're building in unreal is baffling to me, but that's as someone who's terrified of it hahaha. You probably don't need to have camera control tied to right mouse, as i ended up just holding it down the whole time. the shrink dash felt unnecessary too as jumping was a much more effective means of escaping damage. This was a fun little experience! great job c:
Thank you so much, I really appreciate hearing that! And I'll be honest, the whole reason I grab on to Unreal so much is solely because I like how it handles the art aspect; I'm an "artist" turned "dev", so I'm biased on that end lol!
And I agree, the shrink dash did not melt into the project like I wanted it to and sort of came about because of a lack of an elegant solution the theme and a desire for a mechanic; on retrospect, I would have wanted a mechanic that made sense to the game and the theme challenge. I'll get it right next time, lol!
Again, thank you so much for taking the time to play it and offering feedback! It means a ton!
