I have 10+ years of experience as a software developer, but this is my first game. It is a mobile-friendly, laid back ARPG with Stardew Valley vibes. A relaxing game loop of acquiring bounties, wandering progressively further from the city to complete them, and frequent rewards of unique game-changing loot and new skills and abilities.
I've got a great feel for how to make the game work on mobile (UI/UX ) and I think there's an audience for the game. Progress is remarkably fast, but the art is falling behind. I started with free assets and have since replaced everything with unique AI generated art, but it's garbage. I find that I can do decent animation once I have images, but it needs work. If needed, I can get better at that.
My goal is to get a complete game loop, polished demo with gameplay up to level 5 (of 25 total levels plus infinite grind at the end). This would include the city area, a small wilderness area, a catacombs area, a kobold village, and goblin caves, as well as the character model itself, world props, items like staves and armor, etc. I have a significant amount of this done in terms of code and scene building, but all of the art is placeholder.
From there, I think we could generate interest in the game. As an idea, it's well fleshed out. I am a determined person and capable of putting in the work required for a professional quality result.
My vision for the game was aztec/mayan influenced settlement built on abandoned ancient ruins surrounded by tropical wilderness. If someone came along that was willing to do the art, however, I would be ok with handing over artistic direction entirely. I am not an artist.
If you actually read all of that and are interested, add me on discord. it's either "jmsdev." or "jmsdev#1469". I am not sure which one to give.
