Which theme(s) did your game incorporate, and how?
Imposter, play as a detective to solve a case, but the case is not what it seems to be at first glance.
Did you use any pre-made assets? If so, what were they and where were they from?
everything was made for the jam, except for the font, which I found here https://www.dafont.com/pixelmix.font

This was an amazing entry! I think it has my favorite visual style from the entire jam (I’m a sucker for some good pixel art)! I think the gameplay, sound design, and story are all amazing elements as well!
Unfortunately, I think I either got stuck or confused at the end (or maybe it just wasn’t implemented). After getting the “Guided Investigation” clue and sitting down, I was unable to progress further. I think I tried most combinations with the clues I had, but wasn’t able to find an ending :(
Other than that, this is easily one of the standout entries!
Thanks for playing, you did not miss much haha, the final connection guided investigation + case file which would have the detective talk about this being predestined etc, and then game over.
If I continue working on this game there will be for sure a batter easy to sift through relevant clues haha
Thank you for your feedback! I had a blast doing the sound design.
The art, music, and functionality are excellent!
The way information is presented is interesting.
The game feel of going through the door is very good!
The player animation is quite varied. It greatly enhances immersion...
A possible improvement:
==- INTERACTION:
- After interacting with game elements, some less important elements could change the displayed text to a more concise form like "I've seen this," "I've read...".
- And for more important elements: only show the essential clue, as in the case of the brick: "you missed it..."
Sound and music person here, thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed that aspect.
Thank you for your feedback!
Thanks for playing. Those are some great suggestions, thanks!
great submission, I really liked the game feel.. visuals and interactivity were superb
Super, super cool game. Nice Work!
Something that I struggle with in puzzles games is that often there are logical leaps that might seem obvious to one person, but not to someone else. Here I ran into that, not understanding why the detective would say two things that are obviously related, aren't. I liked the gameplay design, the art style, the music and aesthetic, but because I had to try and brute force the actual gameplay (and there are no real hints in terms of oh this person might have more to say, etc.) I didn't really get to the meat and potatoes of the case. As a result, I didn't really get to interact with the theme. I still think it's a well done game, but I think some clarity on the logic here might make for a more playable experience.
Thanks for playing!
Yeah I learned that this is a very hard genre because of the writing required to make it make sense haha. With more time I would have added ways for it to be easier for sure.
I did the music! I’m really glad you enjoyed it
Way to good for a jam, the story, art, animations, sounds are all way too good! I got a little stuck on what to do a couple of times, a couple (Its not that im just bad at this type of games I promise)
Thanks for playing :)
Its not just you, I am new to writing this kind of game so no doubt there are some logic leaps that threw you off.
First of all... wow, I'm impressed!
I really really like the idea of the game and the kind of game. The art style is fricking good! And the animations are nice. I like the music too. You really did that in just two weeks for the game jam?!
It's easy to understand. The explanations in the game are pretty good to understand, the highlighting of the book symbol when I have to close my book is very intuitive.
I would wish for the possibility to get some tipps when I'm stuck in my canvas. Or maybe that the cards, that don't need a new connection are greyed out or something. At the end I still had two unused connection points. And I think it would be nice to hide the cards that are already on my canvas.
But it was really fun to play, I've enjoyed it and I would play it again once it's fully developed. Fricking great job!
Thanks for playing and for your review!
Yes, the art and music were really made in 2 weeks. My teammate did all the sounds and music and I did the art and programming.
In the end I ran out of time to add more convenience features to the clue board.
If I can find a way to expand/revise the story, I definitely want to develop it further!
thanks for your comments on the music! I made the track in an hr when I had free time and I made all of the SFX like two days ago. Was pretty crunched on time irl for college stuff but I’m glad I could pull off a product people enjoy!
