That was freaking sick man. I had a vendetta against that AI man. Admittedly these hands aren't so great at this kind of game anymore (who am I kidding, I never was). But that was real treat and I enjoyed the 4 attempts I think I took until I finally won. Really satisfying game-feel and overall just a very fun experience!

This was super fun and challenging.  After some time I had to actively stop myself because it was too addictive.  Would 100% play a PVP version of this.

mom can we get rocket league? no we have rocket league at home.

In all seriousness this is amazing, you did an incredible job. The AI is actually challenging, game feels responsive and it's genuinely super fun and intuitive.

I like this from an arcade game angle, could very easily see this played daily by people, espescially if it's multiplayer.

I think it's easy to understand and it has a nice short game loop.

This is fantastic. The graphics, the juice, the gamefeel - all really excellent. To build something like this (including a good AI) in two weeks is an incredible achievement.

Phenomenal presentation and game feel. The AI felt spot-on as a challenging competitor. Would be interesting to see what other mechanics you all could add on to this. I especially liked the trophy at the end.
Here's a playtest

🥲 I almost beat the AI. Great work overall, the visuals, music and gameplay complement each other. Great stuff!

Excellent game! Very polished, fun concept, I like the music picking up as the match goes along. The AI opponent is very impressive considering the time constraint.

Developer(+1)

It was my sole contribution to the game so I'm glad it landed 🫡

Reckon id have a lot of fun losing against my friends in this game, probably one of the most well polished games here! and the ai is really smart as well, was curious how it worked and thankfully you already answered someones elses comment on it. awesome job, this could defo be published with a bit more content

Cool remix of   Rocket league!    Very intuitive and good gamefeel

If this had local co op and some abilities, I'd be willing to buy it.

You might like BOPL battle as a source of inspiration.

wow, impressive game dev skills on display here, i suspect some pro talent?

Your implementation of physics ball with two different movement modes went way better than mine :)

also, great enemy ai

Submitted

top notch visual and audio presentation, that enemy ai probably took a long time to make (its better than me)

i really liked this! very polished! Be honest there is no AI for the player it is just secretly a multiplayer game. Jokes aside, I would really like to know the approach you took for the AI of the enemy, it feels like another player.

Developer(+2)

ahaha thank you!

It is a simple sense → decide → move loop every frame: the bot reads where the ball, you, and the goals are (plus things like “am I stuck in a corner?” or “is the ball moving toward my goal?”). From that it picks one of a few modes: defend, contest for the ball, attack, recover when it’s overcommitted, or bail out of corners. It also sticks with that choice for a few frames so it doesn’t jitter between behaviours.

Each mode sets a target position (guard the goal line, shadow the ball, rush to strike, etc.), then steers there with the same movement and boost rules as the player, including wall avoidance.

I actually think the human feel mostly comes from the fact that it sees the same things you do, and has the same physics-y input 😁

Wow, in all its simplicity, it appears very smart when playing against it! Great Job!

Felt really good to play, super smooth and polished!!

Submitted

Very polished and fun experience! The game looks gorgeous and feels very intuitive. It’s also very challenging and I suck at these kinds of games, but after grabbing a gamepad I finally got a win.

Great addicting game. So simple yet so polished and fun. The AI is hard at first, but after a few tries I finally managed to beat it. Gameplay gets tense at times, very high pressure. The only thing that could elevate the experience would be a local co-op mode, would be cherry on top for real. Great job, amazing!

Developer

Thank you!!

We're going to try making it online multiplayer after the jam, and 2v2 games are definitely something I want to experiment with!

This is incredibly fun.

Simple concept, extremely well executed and polished. Very enjoyable! Perfect jam game. Managed to win 4-0 on the first try but it gave me rocket league PTSD flashbacks...
