Pretty cool art style! well done

Very cool! The dynamic building of the ship was great and the art was very well done. While I think the idea of being able to assign keys to different parts of the ship is cool in theory, but in practice it got very confusing quick as I spiralled out of control after putting too much power into my a key haha. I think having a default level of thrust to wsad and adding engines to the ship modifying the power of those keys would alleviate the initial build time / get the player into the game quicker. This would also hopefully have the follow on effect of making losing parts of your ship in fights a little less painful - perhaps even allowing you to quickly grab and attach parts on the fly? Lots to build on here though, great work!

A really interesting idea! I had fun trying out different ship builds to beat the initial opponent, unfortunately I couldn't figure out what to do after that. I few a suggestions as well:

  • Instead of predetermined (or even re-bindable) keys, a press to assign might be nice so you can choose the key you want to use right then and there (similar to Godot's action key system). Also a confirmation button I think would go a long way as well.
  • It would be nice to add a tutorial or some text regarding the Break button as initially I though it meant "Break the ship apart" and not "stop". But its a good feature, I liked being able to stop my momentum even when I was gliding sideways or spinning around
  • I would have liked to cancel out of the key / power selection screen and keep the previous bind and power settings (sometimes I clicked on the wrong one or changed my mind)
  • The warning overlay confused me at first, it made me think I was going out of bounds, and not warning me of an incoming enemy (so it obliterated me from behind)

But all-in-all especially for a 3D game I think this is really good for a solo dev with (like you said) limited time! If you do a post jam update I'll come and replay it for sure

The character art is amazing and I wanted to make this work SO BAD but I just really couldn't figure it out 😭 I understand the concept, but no matter what I did, I couldn't make the guns shoot bullets. It's really too bad because the idea of completely modular physics-based shipbuilding sounds SO fun! Like building weird contraptions in Tears of the Kingdom.

I like the art style and the ship-building mechanic, a bit sad it doesn't play like a finished game.

I was busy during the week and had less time than I expected, sadly, (I'm also pretty new to godot)
but I still posted anyway so I could polish and update it later, because I’m happy with how it’s was coming together.

I can really feel the potential here, I might come back and try it if it gets updated
