This game is the definition of chaos, in a good way! So many physics objects accumulate and start flying around til it becomes super hard to figure out what's going on. I started off expecting kinda a Sonic-style game but it ended up feeling closer to Hotline Miami in the end with rapid retries and trying to finagle through the waves of hazards.
It was definitely pretty easy to understand how to play, hahaha. The SFX were way too much IMO, very loud and tons of them playing over each other all the time. It seemed to be a game about building up as much momentum as possible, but the camera was so zoomed in that it was pretty much impossible to predict when you were about to run into something, which I felt turned it into an exercise of memorization more than skill. I loved the art though, and the immediate, constant chaos honestly impressive
I would suggest making the game less random. Level 1 is fine, but for level 2, enemies come from everywhere and can hardly be dodged. Also, rats seems to be weirdly stuck in walls. (tried to screenshot it, but isn't visible on a screenshot) I watched CheeseOnCheese's video after I played the game, and I noticed the "wall of rats" in level 2 is passing him a lot later in the level. Maybe check if everything is not frame-rate/fps dependent?
I do like the idea and the random pixel and paint art.
The game had an update patch where I reduced the rat doomwall speed, that's prob why there is a discrepancy between CheeseOnCheese's video. The speed is in the _process(delta: float) -> void: function
There's a hop function that was made for the rats early on by Gigglez but they sadly can't climb walls
there are approximately 3 million rats in New York

THANKS FOR PLAYING!!!!
This is pretty much two games for the price of one. There is a chaotic cat platforming game, and there is a challenge of trying to figure out how to play the game. These chaotic styles of games are rare, so great job on making one of the most interesting games for this jam :)
It's a fun concept! I like the theme and the pixel art cat was very cute! It felt a bit too tricky for my taste though, it seemed impossible to avoid all the obstacles, and I wasn't 100% sure which obstacles actually damage you and which ones just slow you down. I think having some more feedback when you take damage would have helped. I found zooming around in the shopping cart was the most fun part. As someone else has already mentioned, I think this could work well in an endless runner format.
This game was insane. I really enjoyed the chaos of it all, however I found the character controller a bit too hard to handle, and mostly the rapid collisions were hard to work with. Combining that with the instant rat storm was really making it hard to get started with levels. I ultimately won and was treated to some weird ass youtube videos. Great capsule art!
Here's a playtest
Sorry it was so hard on the first iteration!!! I reduced the rat doomwall speed for the second patch
THE ARTIST WAS COOKING!!!!✐⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
I really like the pixel art and the different types of obstacles you added. However, I think the gameplay could be improved a bit to make it a little more fair for the player. No matter what I did, I seemed to hit obstacles. I also wasn't sure how to start the game at first and wasn't sure why it was linking me to Youtube.
I think this would benefit from an endless runner type format, where the cart is constantly moving and you just have to focus on jumping to avoid the obstacles in time. I really like the premise, and I think it has potential to be a fun game. It just needs a little more development. Still, lots of fun.
The game was originally coded to be an endless runner but there were issues with how it was coded. The player character kept sinking into the floor when the whole level environment was moving instead of the player.
Switching to a traditional platformer control scheme fixed it. It's possible to add a constant velocity to turn it into an endless runner (with a finite stage length)
I was most inspired by Dino Run when making this.
I thought about making a constant moving camera like those Mario scrolling stages but abandoned that since it seemed like those levels were not loved by players.
I made the player get immediately hit by rats at the beginning for immediate life reduction feedback.
Youtube is for culture :)
Thanks for playing!!!
Did you folks take inspiration from Happy Wheels? When playing, that was the vibe I was getting, especially the flag at the end.
Chaotic but fun game, don’t know how many times I got thrown to space. Good job!
Yes, the finish line sound is from Happy Wheels 🚲
I'm glad you enjoyed!!!
This one was a little too chaotic for me, I was confused if I was meant to be racing the giant wall of mice or not.
I do appreciate the visuals, and breaking the televisions/interacting with the trashcans was satisfying!
just by opening the main menu I can see how much fun everybody was having making that game, I ended up playing it in a VC and everybody was crashing out, had a great time playing it!
IM GLAD THE GAME BROUGHT JOY AND FUN TO YOUR LIFE

The game was quite tiring to make actually, adding the silly parts (exploding physics cans, rat bombers, the menu, music, and ms paint stuff) was what gave me the stamina to finish it
I relate so heavily to that! we grinded it out for our game too, it feels so fulfilling at the end when youre done with it! at least my side was, our coders had an issue very late and we couldnt publish it!
I encourage you to join that junipers gamejam! I would love to see what you can come up with now :D
Do you think you'll still release the project?
I'm probably gonna work on a personal project that I've been cooking for a while. Too much programming ;_;
I can do design sketches / level design if you want to shoot me towards some programmers but otherwise I probably won't do that jam. Are you gonna do the junipers jam?
Pure hilarious chaos - nice job!
٩(^ᗜ^ )و ´-
this game has one of the best menus I've ever seen
gameplay is really funny although it has some hiccups with the physics slowing us down in a not satisfactory way, but it's an hilarious fun game either way, nice!
Had trouble understanding what was going on, unfortunately. The art is great though!
