In hind sight I think I rated your technical a bit too low. It seems that once a player gets into a mind set that a game could be improved it is generally marked down in all catagories. I can tell that technically the game has had allot of work done on it.
After reading the "All three buttons" I managed to get another cannon working. That was great! Although, I guessed that 5 means I have to destroy 5 enemies to unlock it. I'm guessing earth was the only other weapon I could unlock ATM (I tried to select a different weapon but could not). The amount of confidence I had in the game meant I would not work hard enough to unlock later weapons. It is quite difficult and so I gave up on the game. I do have it downloaded so I could play it more and unlock more but that waits to be seen.
Thanks for the feedback! I couldn't focus on this project as much as I was in my previous game jam projects, so I didn't get around to balancing or difficulty scaling or any kind of testing. I'm going to work on this more after the jam, so I was just looking for feedback on what I had managed so far.
To explain the (badly tutorialized) weapons system, selecting the ? upgrade gives one of the cannons a random element to shoot with. The idea is that you can cross the cannon streams and combine the elements together, creating a new and more powerful projectile to use. In your case, shooting water at the earth projectile creates a plant that attacks enemies for a short time.
There is no way I could have guessed that even though I did see a flowerhead grow and shoot off a lightning bolt. I did wonder why the cannon shot earth. Maybe shooting seeds and all the ground is already grass/earth would make it easier to understand. The thing with the question mark is: I think I did select it but I was in such a rush I wan'st thinking that I could actually make a choice
It was good. I would have liked to use the other cannons aswell. The consept and practice was good. I felt that I deserved to be rewarded by being able to use another cannon/button. I only used "S" or DOWN. The speed of cannon movement was good. So the gameplay was well ballanced. No sound.
