This looks quite interesting, unfortunately I don't have a program to open up .rar files, would it be possible to upload a version in a .zip file? I understand that would probably have to be done after that jam is over.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the comment, I honestly never thought about that! I'm using Windows 11, which can unpack .rar files natively without any additional tools now. I've just uploaded a .zip version for you, it contains the exact same build of the game as the .rar file. I hope you enjoy it! :)

Great, thanks! Now that I've played it, here's some feedback.

While the gameplay is pretty barebones at the moment, the core mechanics are solid, I could see this being a neat little tycoon game with some more work.

One thing I noticed is that the speed of the edge panning is effected by the game speed, unlike the W.A.S.D. movement, but that's a very small nitpick. overall, well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback! You're absolutely right about the edge panning, I actually noticed that a while ago but completely forgot about it 😅 Thanks for the heads-up, I've made a note of it!

I like the games optics :3

Cool game looks really good!

Really enjoyed the cozy space-tycoon vibe of the game! Building trade routes and watching the ships travel between planets was surprisingly relaxing, and the whole concept has a lot of potential. The visual presentation and music also work really well together.

I can easily imagine this growing into a much larger game after the jam. Nice work! 😄

Thank you so much! Comments like this are super motivating! 😄

Pretty cool chill game. Took me a minute to get the routes figured out but once I did it was neat building the trade routes. Overall I liked it.

From the video it looks interesting and I'd like to give it a try. Sadly, there's just a windows build...

Developer

Thanks for your comment! Yes, the game was built in Unreal Engine, which unfortunately makes a WebGL version impossible. If you still want to give it a shot, the download is just a little over 300MB and there’s no installation required, you can just unzip and play! :)

emphasis on Windows build ;)

Developer

Haha, yeah... I realized my mistake literally a few minutes after replying! 😂

Nice work, all the right elements are there for a trading strategy game. I like the chill atmosphere and watching the ship flight paths. It seemed like I could only make routes for water, which was disappointing. You could definitely expand this into a full game.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback and for pointing that out! I've actually just added it to the known issues list in the description.

The funny thing is, the ships were actually transporting different resources in the background! But after reading your comment, I investigated and realized that the resource text on screen was just a hardcoded placeholder and wasn't connected to the actual code at all... ^^"

I've already fixed it in my local build and will upload the update as soon as the rating period is over. Thanks for playing!

I finally had the chance to play your game and wanted to say congratulations on completing your first jam. The core mechanics are fully functional and it was really satisfying to figure out how everything works.

The overall visual style of the game is very pleasant, but I struggled a bit with connecting the planets at first, even after checking the tutorial. It took me some time to understand the process because of the lack of visual cues. Adding simple hover effects, clearer line visuals, or some audio feedback when interacting with a planet would go a long way in letting the player know they are doing the right thing.

In terms of the game loop, I managed to earn 7,000 credits and hit the limit of three ships, but I was not quite sure when the game actually ends. It would be awesome to have a clear goal displayed on the screen, such as reaching 10,000 credits to win, which would give the player a strong sense of achievement.

On the technical side, I noticed the game ran at 120 FPS by default, which put a heavy load on my CPU, pushing it to 50-60% usage. I tested forcing a 60 FPS limit through my GPU settings, and my CPU usage immediately dropped to a much healthier 20-30%. For future updates, locking the frame rate to 60 FPS or adding a simple settings menu would be a great optimization.

Overall, this is an excellent effort for your first jam project and the core loop has great potential. Thank you for the experience.

Thank you for the fantastic feedback!

You are completely right about the visual/SFX feedback and the lack of a clear endgame goal. Visual cues and UI indicators are definitely at the top of my post-jam to-do list. Unfortunately, my time management just fell apart toward the end of the jam! :)

Later there will be FPS cap option for sure.

Thanks for playing and for taking the time to write this!

I liked the parabolic flight paths.
I had 3 trade routes going, 3/3 ships, resources on each, but for some reason the ships stopped transporting and I wasn't sure why.
You have the core of a strong game here.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! There is actually a reason for that: the planets already have a maximum storage capacity implemented in the code, but it isn't displayed anywhere yet and isn't tied to any other mechanics (like supply/demand price changes). So it’s not a bug, but rather a feature that doesn't have a visible purpose yet! :) Thanks for trying it out!

Great game and I love that we landed on the same basic concept 🙂I loved how you had ships actually loading/transiting/unloading.  Great job!

Developer

Thanks so much! Your feedback really means a lot to me, especially since we worked on such similar concepts. It's awesome sharing this common ground! As already mentioned, the depth of your game is stunning!

Reminds me of Star Ruler 2. Great concept. I hope you intend to expand after the Jam. Cause this game has a lot of potential.

I would recommend highlighting selected Planets during the creation of new Routs. Or any other feedback. Not sure how many time I clicked on the planet until I realized, it recognized it and only waits for the second one.

Developer

Thanks a lot for the great feedback! Yes, I really want to expand on this after the jam. I’m a huge fan of space and tycoon games, so the ideas are just overflowing right now.

Thanks for the suggestion as well, I love getting input like this. Highlighting the selected planet or planet to select is one of top entries on the to-do list! :)

happy to help. You got yourself a follow. Really looking forward what you come up with.

Space and Tycoon games are also a favorite of mine.

Extremely polished game for 10 days, bro, you pulled it off. No bugs or glitches as far as I can tell, no problem either, well done 👍.

Developer(+1)

Thank you, I really put a lot of effort into that! On the final day, I only got home 45 minutes before the deadline and was crunching like crazy to fix a handful of bugs and add some polish that I only noticed after the initial upload. ^^

Great gameplay concept, fun implementation and experience. Especially impressive to build this in C++ for a game jam and come up with quite a polished, if understandably short, experience.

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! Doing this was a world of difference compared to just watching tutorials or using visual scripting nodes. This is my first actual jam submission ^^ and I now understand why people say it's such a valuable experience.

Writing it in C++ was pure hell at times, though. After 2 days of asset placement and doing a blockout, I focused entirely on the C++ logic. It felt like opening a rabbit hole, I didn't even launch the engine for 4 or 5 days because everything was connected and I couldn't test it piece by piece.

It was a huge relief and super satisfying when everything finally came together, though!

Submitted

Yeah, actual code tends to be like that, a lot of build-up for a grand payoff when done right.

Submitted(+1)

Impressive - not just for a first go with C++, but in general. Nice idea, good implementation and loved the music.

Developer

Thanks a lot, that means so much to me! A lot of passion went into this project.

Great work and sounds too!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, I actually replayed your game twice now :D I love it, make more levels and some upgradables! please!

Submitted

Yes yes!! Thankyouu

For programming in C++ for the first time without a direct tutorial, this is really impressive. The game looks great, and the music really fits. This could become a really fun game if you continue development after this game jam!
