I liked it. Simple mechanics, but the extra details, the voice acting, the impacts when you get an incorrect match, the the KO if you lose, all did a good job selling it. Well done.

Thank you for playing, and so thoroughly. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Nice work! I enjoyed the game. It's been a while since I've played a memory game, so I was a bit rusty at first. The voice acting was funny, and the fact that the recording quality wasn't that great actually added to the overall atmosphere and charm of the game.

Keep it up!

Developer

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed the game.

A very good memory game. Enjoyed the game. Specifically the sound effects. Very well done on that.

Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for playing.

Cool way of making a memory games more interesting!
Getting KO with the camera when we lose are little details that overhaul the idea, good job. Add more like that!
Well done, its alot of work.

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed the knockout animation. I was beginning to think I made this game too easy and no one would get to an actual lose condition. Anyway, thanks for playing my game.

Fun little matching game. I found the narration quite amusing. Good job.

"This Jam has met its Match"

lol, the voice did it for me, excellent! Did you record yourself and process it through something? Very entertaining at any rate. I like the little boxing glove cursor, great little aesthetic touch! I like the fighter names, it seemed to me like they fit with a physical and mental anatomy and science vibe. I would play this game with updates. There is nearly an endless amount of things you can add to make this more engaging than it already is, that makes those things hard to list, which I feel you already know.

Some considerations:

Screenshake when you take damage for the sense of getting hit, to go with the screen flash and on hit sfx.

Visual Effects on the cards when they are matched or mismatched. Like I could see cards popping up with a scaling effect and a particle of some kind that trails behind them as they land into the defeated pile. Also maybe even a glow effect or particles of some kind that run on the cards as and when you select them, then the "SelectionEffect" stops running after the cards have been checked for their match.

Normally, I would not have chosen on my own to play such a game, just not my style. Since you have minimal objects and UI, adding visual feedback on those elements would be a major focus to push the game further! Matching UI Elements to fit your overall theme and some engaging music and you have a nicely polished memory matching game! With some updates and more fights, I would come back to play again!

I was able to complete a round taking 1 hit of damage. I would even consider a step further for a challenge for players~ to add a 5th row or column (in higher level fights), or even swap cards positions (while visualizing the fact) every so often to throw the player off so not only do they need to memorize all the static positions, but if someone's memory is vivid, now they have to remember where they seen certain cards swap to on the grid and keep track of those changes.

Thank you for the detailed feedback and suggestions Optimist, very first game I've ever made so time was definitely against me here. Love the suggestions and I will definitely be tuning this game up to a finished product with another scene that pits your final match against a random match in a 2d brawl in the boxing ring, thanks again for playing, and yes that is my voice with some modification.

I look forward to those updates!!

I can see it in my imagination: The memories you matched now manifest as your greatest threat!! XD Of all the opponents... it had to be... lol

Cool twist, nice job

Cool twist on the match/memory dynamics.

Training the mind in a boxing ring is a novel idea.

Simple but fun, with a nice twist.

I enjoyed it.

Good job!

Funny memory variant. Good job!

Ooo clever. I like the theme and I think it could be a fun concept in a fuller game. Not totally sure what the punch power does if anything now, but the idea is there. Check out our game if you have a minute :)

Developer

Thank you for playing, the punch power really will come into play in the fight scene to follow, just didn't have time to add it so I submitted with the Memory Game complete for the jam.

This is a totally different take on Memory. It's really well done, and for a 10-day jam, I think it's fantastic. Keep up the great work.

Developer

Thank you for playing, I really appreciate the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks again.

I love these memory games. And I also loved the Mortal Kombat-style narration XD Good fun. Thank you.

Thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed my take on memory brawling.

Nice game, just highlights that my memory is pretty bad :)  Good job!

Thank you for playing, and sorry to hear about your memory, lol.

An interesting way to theme a card matching game. The card mechanic itself had a nice pacing to it. Well done.

Developer

Thank you Aestel, glad you enjoyed the pacing of the game, I didn't want it to go to fast for such a short gameplay loop, thanks again.

Excellent voice clips, very on brand. I just want to know what the final fight is going to be like!

Good work!

Developer

Thank you for playing, I wish I could have finished the final fight scene for the jam, but it was just to much animation to get through. Thanks again and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

i LOVE the voice overs, super mortal kombat-y, good job!

I had so much fun — it made me laugh, challenged my memory, and I truly enjoyed it

Awesome game! I loved how when you made a match it sounded like the voice from the Mortal Kombat games. I think the game is nicely balanced. I had enough health to complete the round but not too much that I could lazily click pairs. Nice job!

Thank you for the support Ryan, glad you enjoyed it.

A memory fighting game is a really cool concept.

The main combat mechanic based around memory matching works well, even if it felt a bit slow at times. Good job with this one! GG

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing, I will definitely tweak the speeds a little as I refine with all the suggestions coming in. Thanks again.
