- I really love the art style and overall vibe this game is going for, it very much remind me of Horripilant and I also like the individual classes(despite Spellsinger being bugged) The art design is one of my favorite aspects and the sfx for each creature is creepy as well. My only criticism of the game is that its very unforgiving and does not afford you ways to retreat in-between individual battles. This can lead to getting stuck in a literal death loop where all it takes is a single death to mess up your run as due to you being unable to purchase further upgrades due to dying and paying the toll coupled with now being forced to fight every previous monster until the last leaves you powerless to survive and once you die the second time you always assuredly are perma killed by the entity due to not having enough souls.

sounds, atmosphere and concept are all really good. Game play personally enjoyed though the way items drop needs to be made clear. Does every x amount of enemies slain drop an item or by luck? Is there an ending? Difficulty with enemies is usually luck based which is this game's worst aspect won't lie.
Another critique comes from how each run pretty much gives you a choice: Die and pay more currency or restart the run.. and pay currency for retreating. This one we are less pushy with since this is clearly the intended gameplay loop which forces you to try and hunt more enemies and get lucky so you don't have to pay too much debt.
All around a good game 8.6/10 personally.

Originally, part of the intention of this game was to be a bit vague, and I'm in between players who just want an auto play and others who want full info.
The items are provided every 3 combats, and the final floor is 20. I don't provide the player any sort of slay the Spire map, and personally I prefer this way but it's of course up to the players and what they want, so this may change.
This game can be very lucky based, yes! And I like to think it's part of the fun especially since runs are so short.
I'm not understanding your final critique. The gameplay loop is indeed: Do I retreat now or carry on? Unless I'm misreading.

Spellslinger is currently bugged lmao her ability only works once - hard mode if you like.
