Hey, I'm going to narrate some of the entries from this jam and put them on YouTube, would it be alright if I did yours? I'd credit you of course. And congrats on getting into the top ten!

Heavy read with a melancholy ending, but that's just the way we like it in the grimdark. Some really strong descriptions in this. All around, very solid work!

Peak melancholy. I almost wish we hadn't seen if the rune had gone out or not, and only knew his rage at the problem before him, but that's the only critique that comes to mind and really that's mostly personal preference. Very good showing.

The pragmatism of the characters was borne out in the writing style, and the internal monologue was perfectly conveyed. I really enjoyed it!

Very interesting concept. I'd suggest doing more to show the feelings of the characters and the significance and their actions rather than just telling us about it. Still, an intriguing story with a poignant conclusion. I like it!

Thank you for your feedback!

what worked for me is how practical the pain feels. nobody is destroying the past out of carelessness. they know exactly what they are breaking, and they do it anyway because the living still need weapons. the cruelest part is that the relics are not just beautiful, they are useful. heavy stuff, nicely handled.

Thank you! That was exactly the self-fight I wanted to explore. I'm really glad that feeling came across to you.

Such a heavy and beautiful read!!

Very Lord of the Rings to me but with this unbearable weight of sacrifice running through every scene. A people melting down their own history just to survive

Good Job!

Thank you for your comment! The sacrifice of memory, history, and identity was one of the central themes I wanted to explore, so I'm so glad you liked it

Absolutely nailed the theme for me, and you really showed the impact this was having on the characters. Plus an element of warfare that doesn't really get looked into in stories enough. Top tier

Developer

Thank you so much for your kind words! Being able to write about an emerging piece of lore gives you a lot of room to explore aspects that are less commonly covered

That's awesome. Really a gut-wrenching choice for those Dwarves. Very cool!

Thank you! I really wanted the choice to feel painful, with no truly good outcome for them. I'm glad that came across and that you enjoyed that part of the story.
