Wow, this game feels very polished and complete for a game jam, even has tutorial dialogue, although probably too wordy for my taste. And it should probably pause the game when the dialogue box shows up so players have time to read it and not have to worry about enemies attacking them. Besides that, solid game overall.

Really interesting design! Having the combat character clear the path first makes you feel much more skilled when navigating the security traps with the hacker on the second pass. I also loved the style shift during the hacking sequence. However, the keybindings felt a bit counterintuitive to me, and maybe you could drop the left-click attack restriction if it doesn’t serve other purposes.
The dual-character mechanic with different abilities is quite neat. While the overall level design is nice, I especially liked the distinctly different hacking levels. Also, the somewhat cute background music is a big plus!
These aren't game-breaking issues, but I have a couple of suggestions: first, when the tutorial texts are shown, it might be better to temporarily lock player movement. Second, the enemy behavior could use a bit of tweaking. Once they catch the player, they basically stick to you, making both attacking and movement feel overly difficult.
Overall, great work!
Alright, I see you came with a similar idea as I have: control two characters. I like the sound effects, and the overall theme fits really good. Nice job!
I did it! Just barely with only 1 hp left.

This is a neat idea, having one character needed for combat and the other for utility. I'm not clear on why they had the blue line between them, I get that it fits the Connections theme, but it didn't appear to be relevant in any way. It doesn't limit how far one character can move from the other, and it goes through solid walls and so on; it appeared to be visual only.
The inclusion of the spikes adds an extra element to combat, though I did mistakenly place one down when trying to pick up a different one at least twice. The laser sword having an overheat function is also an interesting mechanic, but it's odd to have a set number of uses before that comes into play: if I have one attack left and wait five minutes I'll still have one attack left, whereas if I use that one attack, I go all the way back to ten after the three second recharge. It also felt like there was a hidden cooldown between attacks regardless of heat level.
congratulations on the 1 hp clutch 😄
and thank you, this is a super useful and detailed feedback. You’re totally right about the connection line - right now it’s mostly visual, but it definitely feels like it should have at least story meaning.
also good catch on the sword heat system. it currently works more like charges + reset than actual overheating, which is why it feels a bit weird. and yep, there is a small hidden delay between attacks too - now we see that we could have decrease the delay or indicate how much is left from the delay
Great idea and awesome vibes! Loved the art style and the music. The attacking felt a little off, you couldn't just time the attack while standing, since the enemy was faster than the attack cooldown, or maybe that's just me being lazy haha
And it would be awesome to restart after dying without having to click through the entire tutorial again 💃
I like the idea of it. Sometimes it feels like you only get one chance. Be it the enemy sticking to you or the spinning sensors.
