Description
References for addressing music in the style of *Silent Hill*, *Dead Space*, *Alien: The 8th Passenger*, *The Color Out of Space*, *Mandy*, *Hereditary*, *Annihilation*, etc.**

Strange, uncomfortable environments that must reference what is hidden in the space where the action takes place.

*The world has changed*.

One fine day, the two duck friends wake up alone, without any humans; the people seem almost to have vanished. Taking the opportunity, they escape their cages and farms and venture into civilization, now empty of people, except for a few characters they encounter who behave strangely, sometimes threateningly. In their adventure, they will be surrounded by the mystery of the disappearances, strange paintings, altars to peculiar cults, bricked-up doors, and dark hallways where a threat in the shadows is always present. The adventure is to discover what happened, what became of the people, what our new destination and role are, to survive, and finally, to choose their ultimate fate.

To accompany the amazing images by @Moddeang123, I have created a series of songs that attempt to represent the emotions they convey: fear, emptiness, and loneliness, discomfort and strangeness, but also the friendship of our protagonists, nostalgia, and more.

For this, I used synthesizers and manipulated samples using hardware such as the Behringer Deepmind 12, Korg Minilogue, Novation Circuit Mono Station, and Elektron Digitakt, Digitone, and Analog Four MK2,the korg volca drum and volca kick, and finally the mpc live mk1 and some software synths like uhe diva and korg m1. I recorded the sessions while manipulating and treating them with effects, either from the DAW or my beloved Elektron Analog Heat FX. Distorted sounds, with reverbs and delays, slowed down.

The main intention behind creating this soundtrack was to convey the sensations of strangeness, discomfort, and mystery that the players are subjected to.

The DAWs used were Ableton and Bitwig, along with some native effects from these programs.

The recording method for the tracks involved recording myself while manipulating my synthesizers and grooveboxes, with the intention of conferring an organic and improvised feel to the soundtrack. That was my intention from the very beginning: to unite the unreal with the real.

On my soundcloud playlist for the jam, i posted each track and the images where can see what they represent.

Heres how a make each track and the meanig:

**I see you**
Our protagonists wander through a dark tunnel until, suddenly, they encounter someone. Who is it? It’s strange. They help them out of the tunnel, but they say odd things and stare at them in a weird way...
*The Analog Four MK2 and Digitone took the lead, producing sounds manipulated with modulators in real-time. This was the first track I made for the jam.*

**Luchad por vuestra vida**
Our protagonists come across the corpse of a woman; the blood is fresh, and something is stalking them. They must escape for their lives.
*The song is basically the Korg Volca Drum, Volca Kick, and Circuit Mono Station passed through a slightly broken Xenyx 1202 mixer. I manipulated them in real-time, and the result was recorded exactly as it happened.*

**On the stairs**
Our protagonists are fleeing up some stairs from something stalking them that they cannot see. They keep encountering locked doors, and the enemy is getting closer and closer. Can they escape?
*This is the Analog Four recorded live in Ableton.*

**El mundo ha cambiado**
They find themselves outside. What seemed like a peaceful walk is interrupted by a loud noise and a light in the distance, high up on a strange wooden structure in the middle of a field. The light emerging from inside grows larger and more threatening. In the darkness of the night, the red light and the clouds accompanying it... it doesn't seem like a good idea to stay here.
*Just the Digitone and Analog Four, treated with the Analog Heat FX.*

**Corridor of Quackness**
The hallway is dark; we need a flashlight. Oh! Look what I found! Time to investigate.
*The Digitakt and Digitone dance together; there is a constant rhythm accompanied by strange noises as they search for the clue.*

**Altar**
They find a room, illuminated by candles and smelling of incense. There is an altar, but to whom?
*Ableton piano, recorded and slowed down, with an atmosphere created using a copy of the same track drenched in reverb. It feels familiar, but underneath, something is strange.*
While the piano sounds, the atmosphere accompanying it is disturbing, evoking a sense of emptiness.

**La luz que se cuela por la ventana**
A beautiful light seems to come from one of the rooms. Upon going to investigate, we see that the sunset light is filtering through the window. It almost seems like nothing has happened—well, except for a huge, dark cube hovering above the trees outside. Strange, but beautiful.
*The Behringer Deepmind 12 is the star here. Incredible, I recorded it exactly as it was.*

**The bathroom**
Time to investigate. What is that difficult-to-describe figure drawn on that mirror? Our companion seems to have found something. What could it be?
*Analog Four MK2, a masterpiece.*

**On the road**
They are approaching the city. To get there, they walk down a dark road, but some lights are approaching. It could be a car, but it's weird; the man driving seems to be stalking them. With what intention?
*Analog Four and Digitone; one creates the percussion, the other the strings... what a great team!*

**Una noche mágica**
Finally, a break. Time for dinner. A relaxed moment in the game where they laugh and celebrate being alive... for now.
*Analog Four and Digitakt. With the Digitakt, I manipulated various samples, while the Analog Four handled the melodic parts.*

**El encuentro**
They meet a dog while walking through a town. It seems friendly, but there is something strange about it; it has something attached, like a transmitter... Everything seemed fine until the transmitter on its back emits a buzzing sound. It goes mad and tries to kill our protagonists, who manage to escape.
*For this scene, I used Ableton entirely for synthesizers and percussion. I made it on my laptop while sitting on the sofa.*

**What the quack happened here**
While exploring one of the buildings, they come across a gruesome scene. There is blood everywhere and bullet holes, but no bodies. The blood is still fresh, but it doesn't seem like anyone is there... or is there?
*Analog Four and Digitone on the pads.*

**The inspection**
Something is hidden. It is very dark; they don't know what it is. They cannot escape; they have to figure it out and discover how to get out of there, fast.
*Analog Four and Digitone, with the Analog Heat FX handling the effects.*

**Burned**
They barely escaped. In their flight, the house started to burn, and whatever was inside burned too. Let's hope nothing comes out... right?
*The Analog Heat FX is fundamental here, bathing the Analog Four and Digitakt in a unique atmosphere.*

**Inundación**
The protagonists find themselves in a flooded place. Everything is submerged. Why? What happened? How will they solve the situation?
*Behringer Deepmind 12 and Korg Minilogue, with effects from the Analog Heat FX.*

**It's time to leave**
"It's time to go. We don't know what the future holds, but without a doubt, we have left this path behind and look toward the horizon that opens up before us."
*The chords were made with the MPC Live MK1, and the Mellotron provided the choir.*

First of all, I just want to convey that you perfectly captured that Silent Hill “vibe” on some of these songs in this album. I’d even go as far as to say that these tracks could fit seamlessly into the SH soundtrack without anybody batting an eye.

Tracks I liked:

I see you: Amazing sound design, really put me into the atmosphere of what the game is supposed to feel like.

On the stairs: I like the composition of this one, I get the feeling that I'm being chased.

Altar: This one reminds me of a game called, “Signalis”. The faint ambience and occasional notes give this track a lot of character. My favorite track.

The bathroom: Wow. This one made me feel a handful of emotions, one of which was predominant; dread. The sound design for this track was nothing short of amazing.

Una noche mágica: I really like those synths lol

Burned: I’m gonna sound like a broken record but again, the sound design is really something you should be proud of. This is near, if not at, professional levels of music production.

Inundación: This one had a very ethereal vibe

Its time to leave: This track was perfect as the last. It communicates the idea of an end to a great degree. Idk if the instrument in the background is a choir or a synth, but it fit really well into the music.

Final thoughts:

Following the story of the game along with the music, I can say that you did a great job of representing emotion through music. Your music production was probably the strongest suit of this OST and it made for a great listening experience.

Really cool stuff! Everything was mixed really well, and the dynamics of the Corridor of quackness are great. I recorded mine on eurorack, and I hadn't seen that anyone else had used any hardware synths, so it's awesome to find yours and hear what you made.

Hey, really great stuff! I liked your consistent uses of synths, even though it was a lot of synths they never felt old. Great work!
