Holy ripping projects, Batman!

So here we have a game inspired by Live-A-Live, where your main character uses the sprite from Barbarian, set in Zelda II levels using music from L-A-L and Rudra no Hihou.

All in all though, despite a few bugs and being a little rough around the edges, this is a fun and exciting game.

I thought the caveman translations were a quirky and fun touch to add to the game and it set it apart towards breaking out and being it's own thing instead of being cocooned in all it's existing source material.

Though I do love a good grind I do think the game would benefit from extra content rather than just traversing a side on landscape initiating bump encounters. I like the sussy 'whaddaya buyin' type merchant in the dark cloak, that was a cool little feature.

I think (and perhaps suspect) that in the following chapters should you choose to develop the game there would be some more context framed around the world and perhaps some NPC and dialogue to accompany and already installed neat battle system. Good work and congrats!

Thanks for the input and yah I already mocked up some dialogue for the next chapter, the Medieval stage!

This is fun! I find it to be a very goofy and likeable game. I got past the boss then in the next area I got massacred by the enemies. I think maybe something on the ground is meant to help the player to get stronger but the event doesn't happen because of a bug??

Developer

Yes the thing on the ground is your lady friend what he is craving for and she is meant to join you on your quest! I done goofed and somehow messed up the trigger but I will work on it later in an update. Stay tuned!

I thought this was cool! Live A Live is one of my favorite games and I just recently beat the remake a little bit ago, and I think it is awesome to make something in the vein of it ^^

The mix of sprites and sounds reminds me a lot of classic RM2K scene, which is very nostalgic to me too :3

I wasn't able to get past the third stage, and was the thing on the ground at the end of the second stage supposed to be interactable? I couldn't get it to trigger. Either way I can see the arc of the thing and I think you should keep tinkering with it if you want to ^^

Hey glad you liked it. I am going to be straight up honest with you it looks like you hit some bugs and it's because I didn't have time to playtest the game. I am quite new to game development in general, learning as I go and I don't have any playtesters yet so I couldn't do a lot with it but I am for sure going to make different scenarios like in L-A-L and sort those bugs out.

Also using the Easy RPG  to make the browser build seemed to produce bugs that were not there when I worked in my editor like showing the bush tiles all over the ground on top of my parallax so I need to sort that out too. Anyways thanks for playing!

That's okay! If you haven't used RPG maker much before or done much game dev in general this is a strong attempt, especially considering the rapid building constraints ^^

I haven't used Easy RPG deployment much, but it's surprised me with some of its behavior at least once, so that sort of thing happens!
