AO Lightmapper — GPU-Accelerated Ambient Occlusion Baking for GLB Assets
Hi everyone!
I'd like to share AO Lightmapper, a desktop application designed to simplify Ambient Occlusion baking for modern 3D workflows.
The goal of the project is simple: generate UV2s, bake Ambient Occlusion, preview the result, and export production-ready assets from a single application.

Why AO Lightmaps?
Ambient Occlusion is one of the most effective ways to add depth, contact shadows, and realism to 3D assets while maintaining excellent runtime performance.
AO Lightmapper allows artists, indie developers, technical artists, and content creators to quickly generate high-quality AO maps without relying on multiple applications and complex workflows.
Bonus: Quick AO Lightmapper Chrome Extension
In addition to the desktop application, I also created Quick AO Lightmapper, a Chrome extension that brings AO baking directly into:
- Babylon.js Sandbox
- Three.js Editor
The extension integrates directly into the editor interface and allows AO maps to be generated and previewed without leaving the browser.

Built for Modern Pipelines
Whether you're creating games, WebGL experiences, product configurators, or architectural visualizations, AO Lightmapper helps streamline the lightmapping process and improve visual quality.
Feedback and suggestions are always welcome.
Happy baking! 🚀
