clown control to major tom. thanks for bending the jam theme as far as it could go. the flavor is consistently on point throughout, but some more strong narrative beats, especially in the first half, would go a long way towards giving the world building some more utility--i don't even think we get an explicit objective in the mission brief. a proofreading/editing pass would probably help clarity too; i kept feeling like things took a left turn on me, but i'm easily distracted, and typos take me out of things really fast. it feels like the traits and clowns got the most attention, and that stuff gives this a big boost, so i'd almost prefer this as a guidebook for clown emergence protocol or something. i enjoyed it though! lots of heart, a strong flavor, and just the kind of off-center cultural phenomenon i love drawing on for inspiration at the table (i remember when the clowns came out ten years ago... lord, do i remember).
very fun version of the theme. Fun twist of the 2010s clown stuff as well as a little bit o’ it.
Cool little mission, packed with cool inspiration throughout
Love the try in to past real life trends. The NPCs feel like a great springboard for some awesome social encounters if the Ref puts in the work.
I certainly didn't expect clowns in the jam. With a little work it can be converted into something more weird (think about It, of course).
It's sad to know that the FIST clown control task force was decommissioned, but great to know that FIST are still able to step up to the challenge, even without anti-clown specialists.
The tilted pages look great stylistically, but they do make reading in some areas slightly difficult.
Overall, though, agents using a clown outbreak as cover is pretty great!
I also have to agree with ghostlenin, I was not expecting to see a picture with the caption "Clown Hole" in this Jam, yet somehow, here we are!
Ok, this is very funny. The thing that got me was a black and white photo of a hole in the ground with a caption that just says "*Clown Hole". Amazing stuff. Also the concept of a sliding, selectable "normal human-to-clown ratio" is great.
The black and white presentation is generally effective, but the large black-background boxes were hard to read because of how many times my eyes had to switch between black and white. Larger margins or less contrast would help with the eye strain.
The clown enemies are evocative and come with interesting ideas, and so do the traits, even if most of them are incredibly powerful in silly game-breaking ways (which is fun! but use with caution, lol).
