I like all the animations you had for the main character with up and down frames, crouch, etc. I was stuck right after getting the bow and arrow for a while... would have been nice to have some in-game clues that the tree/vine things can be climbed. (the earlier two had red things at the top but you could have drawn more attention to them... or some games even put arrows to tell the player to go up)
I enjoyed the ballistic trajectory of the arrow... it added a dimension of difficulty to try and find the right distance to strike an enemy.
For the most part, the graphics looked really nice and almost NES-like. However, I felt like the moon reflection did not complement the rest of the graphics.
i didn't progress much sadly, but i can tell that this game is great from the beginning! I like how arrows work here instead of just flying straight, and ofc i was stuck at climbing for the first time but i learned about it through comments
I like the graphics, feels like a real NES game. Good job!
It was quite the challenge! I like how the arrows curve which makes the game more strategic. The game was a bit difficult for me, but the art and sound effects were very good, as expected from Marra.
I escaped from the cave.
The game is fun. I like the presentation, and one thing I really like about it is that it both looks like a NES game while in the same time having its very own visual identity. The game controls well and the levels and difficulty are perfect for the jam, I think how things goes through screen transition and a few other things don't work the most usual way yet they all work well so it's not a bad thing.
Thanks for sharing!
Cool game!
Wish it had more audio, but the general gameplay was enjoyable. Needed a bit more polish in some areas.
The climbing mechanic wasn't obvious at first, I made it past the first screen where you're supposed to use it by jumping at it enough and forcing the collision to work, but soon after the level design made it more clear what you were supposed to do. It was a bit unclear that you could jump off trees because you have to be standing still, but it was consistent once I figured that out.
There was a point in the caves with a block slightly higher right on the other side of a screen transition, which made it seem like the screen ended there. I'd try to keep block levels the same across area transitions to avoid confusion. Making a more distinct tile for the one-way collision blocks you can walk past vs the standard tiles would help in making the cave area more readable as well.
Overall though it was very nice! I enjoyed going out of my way to collect the extra treasures and explore the map, and those massive snakes made for a real intimidating foe, having you backtrack through dangerous areas at times to get enough hits in.
Graphics were very nice, though the water reflection took away from the NES feel, and clashed a bit with the artstyle outside of that. Maybe some sort of dithering could achieve a similar effect?
I do agree with others saying crouching and shooting could give you a different shot arc.
Great start though, hope you expand on it o/
it's pretty good game with nice looking art! and the gameplay was pretty nice too, and i liked some attention to the details with you getting some bonus score points in you climb the trees and scare off the birds lol, and the difficulty was nice it was fun and challenging which is good, although for some reason the controls stopped working the second i got to the 2nd stage :') plus there was a lack of music and sound effects which could've added alot, and i agree with the others saying the arrows should have a lower trajectory if you shoot it while crouching since that's where my brain thought would happen at first, but with enough polish the game would def look really good :)
also if you have some time to spare maybe you can try out my game, i'd like to hear your feedback on it :)
I really liked this game the artwork was great and would fit in on the NES. I liked the bow mechanic and climbing the vines. Overall great game!

Absolutely spot on feel 👌
The archery is cool. It doesn’t follow a straight path but still feels like I have a lot of control of where it lands. I agree with the others that crouching should fire a different trajectory.
nice game. It needs music and clearer graphics and clearer differences with the ground
The color palette here is SO pleasant! Excellent work.
Very good, but it reminded me more of computer games from 1990s.
Pretty nice entry, pretty neat that the story come from part of history! the big snake is quite a challenge. had fun!
It took me awhile to figure out I was supposed to climb the trees! A little rough around the edges, but charming. It'd be cool if you could fire on a different trajectory while crouched, or charge to change your trajectory. Nice job
Good graphics and retro style . You did well. Archery is cool.
Graphics were good and NES-feel was also good!
The audio could be a lot better. And the gameplay felt it needed a bit of polishment. Specifically on the screen transitions as they felt slower than expected.
The tutorial part was nice! But I felt unmotivated by the lack of a banger soundtrack/proper chiptunes unfortunately.
Very nice! Cool Concept
