Amazing! I wish there was more but appreciate the effort that went into every little detail. It perfectly fits the NES theme and is really well polished. I like that you incorporated the short length into the story at the end - all very well thought out and a perfect entry for a game jam! Sprites are fantastic and I loved the hat throwing mechanic and how you can knock enemies over before jumping on them to finish them off, and using them as bounce pads to get to higher areas too!
It really reminded me of Super Mario Bros. 3. Especially the run animation and the little 'ba donk' drum sample that featured in the music. That was a nice touch!
Great job!
Jumping felt too slow... but everything else was awesome! Well done game. Great enemy design. The projectile mechanic worked well for collecting coins and stunning enemies. I enjoyed the crate with multiple coins. The game length and difficulty was perfect for a jam game. Excellent NES feel. (Oh, also great death animation when the character falls down off the screen and the coin fruit things go flying)
Nice game. Don’t know why we are all making such long games, for NES feel maybe. Appreciate getting to see the ending. It was great!
Fun game, really enjoyed the soundtrack, and the concept of the character and theme !
Some beautiful spritework, character animation and the soundtrack is fantastic as well
I love, love the ending screen, it's so pretty <3
What I love less about it is how quickly I got to see it, despite taking my time to soak in the charming atmosphere and collecting all the veggies I could see (seriously, just about chased one off a cliff, haha)
Seriously, I wanted more!
Such is the fate of jam games, especially ones as polished as this, but I'd love to see it expanded upon in the future!
The little hat raise in the crouch animation is so cute too, palette use is top notch overall~
Gah, and the enemy animations are so cute, especially the rat one that gets knocked over / ^w^ \
No notes, keep doing what you're doing o/
really great gameplay I also wanted to give the audio 6 stars
short and sweet, this one felt really great to play!
The chiptunes were amazing! I also loved the sfx for killing an enemy 😂 It really felt like I was playing on the NES, congratulations :) Long live veggies
Nicely polished,
Similar to Duck Tales, but a little too slow paced.
The scope is not huge but what's there is pretty great, I specially like the tunes and the overall NES feel especially of the gameplay. Thanks for sharing!
It had such a nostalgic feel; like I just booted up my Gameboy Color or NES. The music was great and the game mechanics was awesome. Figuring out I could throw Jack's cap to collect coins and hearts was cool.
This was nice! The title screen looked great and the pixel art was very cozy! I would've loved to see more content beyond the first level, but the level itself had a decent length, and a few mean enemies hidden in boxes
I don't have many critiques, but one was that the movement felt very stiff, even for an NES game
I found a secret door, but I'm not sure if there are any more to find...
Incredible music and cute art! I need more Scarecrow Jack!
Absolutely adored this game! The art style is super cute, the gameplay feels really relaxed, but the music really knocks it out of the park! It's super fun and energetic to listen to while playing, so major major props to LeviR.Star!!! <3
By the way, was the music done with the VRC6 chip extension? I swear I hear a sawtooth in there, it's some tasty stuff
Hey Harpy, thanks for the kind words! The music was made with the help of the Namco 163 chip, I used it to add one wavetable (though it can have up to six additional channels). I'm glad you liked the soundtrack!
This was such a fun little game. It really reminded me of Tiny Toon Adventures on the NES. I love scarecrows so that was definitely a plus lol and the music was great! The little guy with the spike on his head threw me for a loop lol
This is a great game! I really wish there was more for me to play!! I really like the hat throwing mechanic, and while the platforming was a little bit simple in this version, I do really look forward to potentially seeing more levels with some tricky jumps/new features if you continue working on this! The music is great as well, I could listen to this all day. Well done!
I loved game but sadly it was very short :'( i was literally expecting to go the next level lol, but it doesn't really matter since the game was very polished and i'd def love to play more of it if you decided to continue adding levels
if you have some free time to spare maybe try my game, i'd like to hear your feedback on it ;)
Nice ending!
The character design is iconic! Love the music and art direction as well. Only complaint I have would be the gameplay because it felt slow. It might have been my PC though, I'm not sure. Kudos to the musician, the ending was super emotional because of the song. I didn't want to see Scarecrow Jack leave so soon. :'(
Great platformer! I do wish the player had a little more speed, but overall I thought the player controller was great and everything felt really polished and put together well. I loved the art—my non-gamer boyfriend even called out that the art made him want to play it! Great submission!
