Theme interpretation and application
This is a Metroid Vania game made for a Jam, the theme was defective side effects. Mostly this theme was used in the story telling how the defects of a person can hurt other people making this side effects that in the game is burning the gnomes, but also can be see in the gameplay by the use of fire and how it affects the environment.

This was an interesting idea for a game and neat way to take the theme. Some things I wanna bring up though is the death sound of the gnomes is a lot. It is rather loud and in your face even on low volume and it goes on for a while. A part of me thinks its meant to make you feel bad for doing what you're doing, but even with that in mind, it doesn't end up making me feel bad in a moral sense as much as I feel bad because my ears are growing tired of the sound. I also don't know if it was intentional or not for the player to lock up in place when they walk over a gnome and remain rooted to the spot until the gnome dies. Jumping into them seemed to allow me to bypass this, so I mostly just hopped around to get a move on. Last thing I wanna mention is I sometimes took damage from the bucket pouring gnomes despite their water not being anywhere near me. It seemed to happen specifically around a screen transition when this would happen, so I would just take damage without really feeling like I could do anything about it.
Outside of all that though, I thought it controlled pretty nice, everything felt responsive, I kinda like the aesthetic of the game, the player looked cool and all the gnomes stood out well no matter the environment so I was always able to tell where they were, which is good. I ended up overthrowing the king before it literally rained on my parade and brought my temporary rule to an end. So, all in all, pretty decent job. Hope I haven't come across too harsh here, the sound just did end up getting to me in the end. Good work!
Thanks man, I'm really sorry for the sound I didn't thought it was to loud sorry about that, and I kind of get it in the part of sometimes get damage by the water it was something difficult to make particles and collisions work together, and the part of staying to watch the gnomes burn was only for the first to more like narrative resource and the other ones you can shut them up if you exit the screen. Thanks by the way for playing the game I really appreciated.
Loved the meaning and symbology behind the game, don't know if I could call it a metroidvania, but i couldn't play the game 'till the end because I couldn't get pass the boss. Also had problems using dash and after getting game over there was time that when I started the game again it got stuck because the main character didn't appear after loading. But still good work and great idea!
Thanks for playing man, I'll try to fix that bugs. I don't know if this will help but if you still want to finish the game and the problem is the boss try to stay below him, he will do he's attacks and in the only one that can make you hit is in the third fase where you just need to jump. I also don't know if it is to obvious that you need to burn he's beard when he's down to make the damage. Sorry I didn't know how to make it comprehensive. And again thanks for playing man
You're welcome dude! It was fun! I hope I didn't sound rough, I normally only comment or critic on something when I want it to go well, so yeah, for sure knowing that you intend on updating it helps! Actually when I saw the beard I thought that attacking it with fire would be a mechanic, because it matched well with the idea, you don't have to be sorry, it's ok, really! Also Ik how much one can appreciate someone playing your game, it means a lot, if you have any free time and would like to I would love for you to play mine as well, we too have some things that we plan on updating.
Even if there's a month life happens and sometimes it's hard to polish and implement everything that you want to, it was the same for us, good luck with updating it!
Thanks man, I'll play your game, I thought I already played but i haven't I'm going yo try it
Thanks dude! Really appreciated! It means a lot! Any feedback is always welcomed! Wishing the best for the both of us and our games! Glad to exchange game experiences with you!
Cool game and the premise of burning things you touch is a fun mechanic. I had trouble using the dash though and couldnt get past the boss. Nice work!
Thanks man, I'll try to make more interactive the boss.
