This is a goated entry love the art, music, and the combat is really fun The intro was a nice touch too and the map between stages showing where you are is a nice detail. Great work.

At 17:20 I got stuck. No death, no damage to mob, no progression.
It may just be the lose condition as my health was pretty low. People complain about my lose condition, but at least I have something rather than the lock up / lock in I experienced here. It’s a minor complaint, maybe a bug, but I was ready to stop by then.
I like vertical scrollers anyway but the graphics were really appealing. Cool music, didn’t get old.
Thanks so much for playing on stream and for providing a link to your VOD :) Also I love how fast you were mashing the attack button - definitely not the intented strategy but seems to have worked quite well!
I'm sorry you got stuck. Annoyingly that was a bug that applied to the blue skeletons in the first level too, which I'd fixed, but forgot to fully test and apply the same logic to the red guys in the last level. You were so close to the final boss too!
Graphically beautiful. Love the atmosphere and setting of the game. Great job.
Wow, this game is so amazing! It's almost too good for NES :D I love the uniqueness of the forward scrolling action and things coming up over the horizon. Really great graphics and gameplay with attacking and timing blocks. You also did a great job of building the tutorial into the beginning stage.
This was so much fun, holy crap.
Probably my favourite game of the entire jam (at least of the ones I've tried so far)
Graphically it looks phenomenal, and the cutscenes are really well made.
Might not be 100% doable on NES due to how the scrolling works combined with the sprite sizes, but outside of that it's a visual joy, I adored the cave level visuals especially with the top and bottom parts scrolling adding such a great illusion of depth.
The gameplay was so fun, action packed and the perfect difficulty for me. (I'll leave blight mode to the more hardcore peeps, base challenge was juuust right~) I like how you don't need to parry anything aside from the final boss (which is extremely well telegraphed so not a problem) as getting the timing right for those rarely feels worth the risk/time investment for me in most games. I'll stick to my sword and board swinging and dodging, and the game fully allows for that playstyle.
Checkpoints were well placed, and the crowd control magic felt very impactful and powerful...even if I forgot to use it aside from like... twice lol.
I really enjoyed the bat fight, kept me on edge the entire time, despite being able to do it hitless my second attempt. Certainly felt like it made me work for it though!
Took a bit to realise what the final boss' gimmick was, but once I did he was an absolute joy to fight. What a great sending off for the game.
Felt like a fully realised experience, great work <3
Thank you for playing and for providing so much feedback. Much appreciated :)
I completely agree the NES would probably flicker like crazy from all the huge sprites and depth sorting going on!
I'm really glad you liked the bat cave level, that was one of my favourites too and I had planned a second cave-themed level but it got cut towards the end as the enemies I'd designed for it weren't properly fleshed out.
Thank you for your comments on the difficulty too! Really helpful :)
i had alot of fun playing this game :) from good art to fun gameplay, it was really cool especially with the unique fun 3d effect! like some said the dash felt too op lmao, once i noticed that i can just do a dash attack the whole time and be able to hit enemies easily while getting hit less, it felt like an exploit for sure, plus i found out i can also position myself in a way by leaving enough distance so i can hit the enemy while the enemy can't do anything (in other words make the attack range just a bit smaller, not too small so you don't keep getting hit just trying to hit the enemy, but just more balanced) the music is nice but could be even better if you try to improve it even more, also i didn't get some of the boss's/enemy mechanics such as me thinking i can parry the blue skeleton's projectiles but it turned out to be unblockable and me thinking i can also parry the bat's projectile back to hit to damage him, but those aren't really big of a problem, other than that the game looks pretty nes and managed to beat it, and ngl i wanted to play even more of this lol, but yeah excellent job nonetheless
also if you have some free time maybe you can check out my game and drop some feedback there? i'd appreciate it :)
Thank you so much for the feedback.
I figured some players would use the limited enemy attack range to their advantage. I noticed that a bit too late so didn't get around to updating the hitboxes or balancing properly.
There was at one point an NPC who told you that projectiles can't be blocked or parried but he was replaced with a sign that just told you how to dodge... and I absolutely had the idea to allow the player to parry projectiles with an upgraded shield but that feature didn't make it into the game either :) Nice that you mentioned that though!
Thanks for playing and glad to hear you wanted to play more!
