Theme interpretation and application
The words we chose are "Absurd" and "Side Effects". Based on these, we decided that the setting of our game will be a nuclear fallout. The theme was incorporated both on the story, and on the gameplay. The absurdity of the side effects of a nuclear fallout will be visible on the appearance of the characters, and the mutations the player character will acquire (in-progress).

Much like others have said, the visuals are really well done and I quite like all the music and sound effects. Hitting enemies sounds very satisfying, all the animations and very fluid and readable, I like the creature designs and the look of the player, and the music has a nice chill vibe I can get down with. The boss fight music is quite nice and energetic, too. Feels fitting to me. Biggest gripe will have to be the control, though. It's a bit... stunted, I wanna say? It doesn't quite feel fluid. It feels very heavy and rough and like I'm sometimes fighting with it just to do a simple jump. Combat is also a little jank as you need to get a hit in before the enemy to stun-lock them before they stun-lock you and eat away at your limited health, and if you time it wrong with this fairly brief window, you've likely lost the fight or taken two hearts damage, setting you up to die in the next if you miss the brief window again. I also had to restart form the begging anytime I died as respawning seemed to take away inputs for me.
Still though, this was a neat little game and I did enjoy myself with it despite my gripes. It has some promise and I think it might be fun to come back to one day. Good work on what you guys managed to make here.
Thanks for playing and for a detailed review! My teammates have noticed these difficulty in the controls as well. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to refactor it.
I really liked the pixel art and presentation! I had a bit of difficulty with the platforming but overall good execution. Nice work!
Thanks for playing and for the feedback!
I really liked the art and sound design. I couldn’t quite make it past the boss, but I still had a fun time overall. The game has a lot of charm and the combat felt satisfying. Great job!
Thanks for playing our game and for the kind words!
