This is the most artistic one I've seen so far. It looks so beautiful, it's a very well designed game. Jusst beautiful, absolutely beautiful. 🐸

Developer

Thank you for playing Froggy Fortune and for the kind comment! 🐸💚

What a charming game! The art and music are lovely, and the character designs, writing and sfx were very fun!

The game mechanic is a cool idea, but it would have been nice to have more variety of options (for each frog all the words seemed to belong to the same categories, so once you figured out which categories they liked, it was quite easy to get a good score without putting much thought into it. Or for one of the frogs, all the words were in categories they didn't like, so it was impossible to get a good score, no matter what options I picked)

Good job overall though, I had a fun time with it!

Thank you so much for your sweet feedback. I'm super happy you enjoyed our game. 💚

We made the choice to let the tarot cards be tarot cards, and the cards you draw are completely random each time you play. What you get is what you get, just like in real life! 😊

I totally get the frustration on wanting to do well and get a good score with everyone, though.

Each froggy has their favourite type of cards (which can be looked up in the Grimoire), so I think it's the player's choice here to go with the words they know the frog likes the most, or with words that you feel align with the card reading the most. There's no right or wrong way! 🐸

I love this game! Frogs!! I’ve made a couple games with mad-lib mechanics before, this is really well done. Separating the word banks by mood / subject, very cool. Beautiful art and fun audio!

Good work.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words, it was my first time figuring out how to accurately do mad-libs, so I really appreciate it!

Love your account name, btw. 🐸

My goodness the amount of dialog that this game has WOW! You two pulled it off quite well. That's no easy feat! Great job!

Developer

Thank you so much! That means a lot. 💚

Really loved this one. Super good use of the theme, adorable art, and fun way to include the instructions being a lie. The only suuuuper minor thing I would say is that I wish that all the sentences made sense when you fixed the madlib. You can get correct/happy responses from the client with sentences that if you read them outloud you'd go "what?" and I kind of wish it didn't give you the clue of showing you the approval rating when you input a word and you had to wait until after you hit "done" for any indicator whether they'd like the reading or not.  All that to say the color system and the grimoire were very fun mechanics and I loved this art style. All around, probably my favorite submission I've played so far!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing and for the valuable feedback!💚

You are definitely pointing out some of the challenges we faced with our game mechanics. I've never created a mad lib mechanic before, so it was a challenge and learning experience. 🐸

We're still super happy that you enjoyed it, and we're taking that feedback to heart for a post-jam version.

I LOVE BIG PURP 💜 BIG PURP FOREVER.

This game was cute, polished and thoughtfully made. The audio is crisp, the sound effects are amazing and the characters make such cute sounds! The gameplay was easy to understand, well designed and it's really enjoyable making your own sentences. The characters are absolutely adorable.
Clean and polished, no notes!

This is an excellent game! I love the level of detail with each of the different tarot cards and frogs' personalities and the music was really cool :D

When I started rating this jam, I planned to make a TOP 5 list… but as I’m going through the submissions, it’s probably going to end up more like a TOP 20. And this game definitely earns an honorable spot near the top.

I’m not entirely sure about the gameplay, or whether the choices I made even made sense, but honestly, people are probably thinking the same thing about the game we submitted 😄 Otherwise, it’s great: beautiful visuals, music, SFX, good pacing, and overall very comfy.

Developer

Thank you so much, that is such high praise! 😊

Your choices can be as silly or appropriate for the question as you wish. There is a scoring system based on the froggies favourite card types, and they can give positive, indifferent or negative comments based on the words you picked!

Most important is that you had fun though! 💚

Submitted(+2)

really original and fun! I don't get where lies the jam limitation though? In any case the efforts your team put in the game shine bright!
Just one question as a french speaker, where does the "honhonhon" cliché comes from? I've only ever heard it in english-speaking medias XD (no offense taken, genuinely just really curious xD)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing Froggy Fortune and for your kind feedback! 💚

The limitation lies in the readings themselves. The Frogs have favourite card themes (seen in the Grimoire), the Witches Nose tells you they aren't working at the beginning. They do, however, those answers often sound like "wrong" choices when picked. So you have to decide whether you want a good score with the frogs, or say something that actually is good advice. 🐸

As for the honhonhon, it's based on phonetics, I believe. The sound of a French person laughing. An example I can think of is the French Chef in the Little Mermaid!

Submitted(+1)

It make sense! Thank you for you answer!

For the laugh that's why I get confused: no french speaker laugh in "hon", we laugh in "ahahah" XD or "rrhrhhrhrhrhrhrhrh" or "hhhhhhhhh", "pfffr" "heyheyheyhey", never heard "honhon" laugh outside of english dubs imitating frenchs  xD So yeah I'm really curious at the origin origin of that phonetic cliché, it has to come from somewhere! xD

Not my kind of game but I have to agree that it’s very beautiful. Character design, SFX/music and UI/UX all great. It has a great deal of polish and detail. Keep it up!

Developer

Thank you for giving the game a try, even if isn't your usual cup of tea.  Really appreciate the kind feedback!

This was such a polished experience! I especially loved the soft music and sound design~ Great gameplay loop too, I would love to see where this game could go in the future :)

Developer

That's such sweet feedback, thank you so much! 💚 We'd love to take Froggy Fortune further in the future. 🐸

Genuinely my highest rated game so far. I've played through it twice, but was being a good frog both times, so I don't know if you have any alternate endings. The acoustic music, the voice lines, getting to read the mad-libs you make, the ART??! Oh my, I had LOADS of fun. I came back to it cause you showed up in my mandatory rating queue so I got super excited to see the game and have an excuse to play it again :)

Developer(+1)

Hey, you're the best! Thank you for the high praise. There is only the one ending for now, but I love that you had so much fun twice. 😊

Submitted(+2)

WOW. I dont know what to say but thank you. That was a fun journey going through all our ups and down of the lily pad. We had SO much fun on stream, and thanks for submitting. HAPPY JAM!!! would love your rating and comment on mine too

I LOVE monsieur grenouille! I love the voice acting, the gameplay is fun and innovative, I love the graphics.. Is this the best game of the Jam?! The two little characters representing you guys at the end are cute as well.

Developer(+1)

Honhonhon, merci, mon amie! 🐸 I really appreciate the great feedback, makes me super happy. Thank you so much for playing!
