I like how the progression is really linear; I was scared I would softlock myself but I kept moving forward. Once I got the first purple turtle, I finally understood what the point of the the numbers were, and that any turtle could go into the blue water, and that its more a merge game than a "figure out what each color turtle does game".  I think it would be better if each mechanic was clearer from the get go, and the levels were slightly more difficult, but I think in the time you had, this was a really good execution, and discovering the mechanics was pretty fun on its own. I like how you made 3 different songs for this game, but I do think the main song is a little bit aggressive, and the most time should have been spent on developing that song. Good game overall!

Developer

Thanks a lot for the structured feedback! I didn't really want to make it this linear, but I figured it was probably the only way to avoid softlocks with the mechanics I had imlemented. Next time I should definetely explain the game mechanics more (than not at all). Regarding the music, I really wanted to go WILD for some reason but after the game was taking shape I would probably rather aim for something softer and calmer.

Nice game. Coll idea and execution. I didn't manage to figure out whihc turtle gives you which color, I mostly click random at turtles till I get the color needed.  The level design is very good. Good work!

Developer

Hi Artios, thank you for thy fabulous feedback! Sometimes the try and fail approach is easier than figuring everything out right at first, and I'm not talking just about games :D Have a nice day!

Hey there! This was an interesting puzzle game!

At first, I didn't really know what I was doing XD (probably because I jumped head first without reading any instructions), but once I understood when I'd switch turtles and when I'd mutate them, the game became a lot more interesting.

Don't take my initial confusion as something bad, but do take the fact I was able to figure it out by myself something really good. Anyways, great job!

Developer

Hey IsItLucas?, appreciate your feedback, I was really wondering how much will the players be confused with this little amount of instructions but I was betting on the overall simplicity of the game mechanics ;) Thanks for playing!

This game was so much fun! I love the level design and the setting. And it was fairly simple to understand even with minimal instruction which I appreciate. Vive la révolution des tortues!

Developer

Your comment really warmed my heart, thank you! Vive la révolution! (I don't know much French but this one I understood :D )

Okay so i’m going to complain a bit here. I couldn’t finish the level. I don’t know if it’s my luck but i tried 3 times going through it, and 3 times at differents place mostly at the end of the level the game crash.

From the look of the crash the game make both the swap and color/mutation change because the two turtle are the same color and were at stage one wich is green everytime. So the game gave me control of a very soon to delete turtle and crash. As i see my turtle vanish being consume by the other one turning red…. such a fearsome sight

While i couldn’t finish it, i found the use of historical settings a rare sight. Having such huge circle floating help a lot for direction and mutation stage needed to pass. A bit too simple but still satisfying to pass through all the area. Great work

Hey thanks for the feedback! A friend of mine was playing the linux version yesterady and sadly he encountered the same bug, which didn't occur nor on windows or browser which were the only ones I playtested thoroughly.

We found out that it's probably caused by the GPUPartiles3D rotation during mutating so a clunky workaround would be to not move during mutating. Could you tell me if it was the linux build you played? I might take it down and let linux players play in browser until the end of jam instead.

Sorry for the late reply, I played on browsers. I use a Windows 10 and Chrome. I also did move during mutating

Developer

Thanks for letting me know! Now that I read your original post again, it was probably a different bug than the one which was happening on linux. I got many players who played in browser so it's weird you were the only one encountering this bug so far.

it happen, i tryed again and it happen. I can confirm that i control the turtle that has disapear after mutation. I check the console, not sure it will help nor it will be send

Thank you so much! This was very helpful!

Essentaily the only place where I use look_at() is for disapearing turtle's GPUParticles3D to face the player and after the player takes control of the disapearing turtle, the player and the GPUPartiles3D have the same position and thus look_at() fails because it needs a nonzero length to work, which I definetely should have checked first.

But that's more of a consequence of your bug that lets you take control of disapearing turtle.

Nice puzzle game! I liked the feeling of progression when mutating your turtles to the next level. Great setting as well!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for playing, Exxiey!

It's rare to see a game with a historical setting like this! It would be helpful to know before you interact with a turtle what the outcome will be - I think I softlocked myself because I only got up to level 3, and the only turtles accessible to me swapped with me rather than adding to my level.

Developer

While playtesting, I think I eliminated all softlocks - either the solution was too hidden or I missed the one you encountered :( But you are right that I might have gone the route "figure it yourself" a little too much. Thanks for playing and the feedback!
