I love the little cutouts and how you animated them, overall it was a pretty fun and unique concept having to go catch the fishies for other cats. Your audio paired nicely with the style you went for, as previously mentioned by someone else it would just be better to keep all your assets looking the same to keep the vibe the same (like the seaweed being a bit more cartooney and the rest are cutouts)

I had a lot of fun playing it tho, good job! :)

The visual style was pretty and reminiscent of the 2010 art style. It was extremely difficult to catch fish, though guess it comes with being a cat! Swimming and walking felt responsive and amazing, and your companion being there just for the fish is peak real life.

Thx for playing! have you tried the to dash into them? I might have made the dash not as effective as I thought can fix that after the jam!

I wasn't aware of the dash, now fishing is easier

it really is my fault I am terrible at conveying information ;-; but it is something I am working on!

Its my fault for not being able to follow simple instructions

No no, I should have started on the pause screen. on the web by instinct we dont pause(or press esc) bcs it minimises the window too. I wanted to make floating text or like a quest checkmark but ran out of time so dumped the text in the pause overlay but that is not a good solution. In any case I hope now the game is even more fun for you :D

What a great game, but it's a bit difficult. I hope you'll try my game and give it a try.

I’ve always wanted to make a game with this visual style. I’d use it as a reference and inspiration. I admit I would have liked the seaweed and the sea/waves to look like magazine cutouts (just like the other elements) but that’s purely my own preference, not a criticism per se. The game creates a great atmosphere. Congratulations on this one!

I am still experimenting with the style and yes you are right that is a nice upgrade! I will be experimenting more with this style for sure and thank you for the comment!

I enjoyed playing as the cat and swimming. The gameplay style is wonderful and funny

There's something satisfying about swimming with a school and catching fish. The message of losing a life is thought-provoking.

Developer

Thx! you can get 4 different endings your companion arrives on day 2! I realised I didn't make that very clear ;-;

The art and style are hilarious, truly. The kitten is fun to play with. But I still can't ignore the question: who is the companion? the ball near the sea?

Developer (1 edit)

the companion comes on day two, first day is for the player to get used to controls and the fishing :)
