The art is incredible! The music is great as well, and I love how you used the theme. It took me a round or two to get the hang of things, but once it clicked I really enjoyed playing!

Excellent work, and congrats on your first Godot game!

Really cool artwork. The idea of the cards getting mutated is so good and fitting. Is there any indicator of when the opponent is going to make a move that I am missing cause most fo the time I was just spamming my cards. Nice work!

The art is Amazing I love it ! I was really confused why the Morsel piece was stuck in the middle of my screen initially haha!

Loved the art and music but I never played a deck builder before so I couldn't figure out how where to move the cards or what to do with the cards.

Hey, I loved the atmosphere, the palette, and the art of the game in general. It's simply amazing how good it looks!

I think you have a resolution issue? It opened really big on my screen, and the card descriptions were off-screen, but I could kinda fix it using + and - on my browser

Gameplay-wise, I liked the mechanics you implemented, and the take on the theme 馃槉

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yeah unfortunately a lot of people are running into resolution issues. I think it needs to be fixed through our project settings tho.

making a roguelike deck-building game in nine days is very impressive. The enemy art and overall art are very beautiful. I didn't like that when new enemies spawn, they attack in the same turn, and you may not have enough cards to defend yourself, although this may force the player to think beyond a single round

Developer

Thank you for playing! Yeah, I agree with you that the way new enemies spawn right now can lead to some unfair scenarios.

I was really impressed with the graphics. The music was too loud for me at the start, at some point it stopped altogether, so I guess it fixed itself. I loved that you put in cards. The sound effects were nice and crispy. Cool concept

Very beautiful game, I love all the art and designs for the monsters.

The song is also a bop which helps.

I think I had a similar problem to other people that the screen was too big, zooming out helped a little but it cuts of parts of the screen. You can test out turning on the full screen button in the settings of your game on Itch, changing that doesn't invalidate any of the rules of the Jam as it's not changing the actual files.

I got to a point where it was warning me about the mutation level and I needed to hold right click on a card for 2 seconds to discard the mutation but I couldn't quite make it work, I'm not sure if I was doing something wrong there.

Despite those small issues I had a lot of fun and was able to complete it on the second run. Although I think I cheated because on the second run through I already had some of the mutated cards from my previous run.

Very nice work.

Thanks for playing! I've added the option to go into full screen, but unfortunately I don't think it solves the issue completely. For discarding a mutation card, I think we just set the time required for too long. Two full seconds is much longer than we thought it'd be.

I gave it a shot then with the full screen option and at least for me it seems to have completely solved my issues with the screen fitting.

Developer

Oh awesome! That's good to know.

Very good art and enemy designs! It's impressive that you managed to make a roguelike deckbuilder in this amount of time. The idea of cards mutating mid battle was very interesting as well! I struggled at first trying to figure out how everything worked, but once I did it was fun.

The art looks really lovely. I particularly liked the squid. The music is good too, but it plays too loudly and then stops (it doesn鈥檛 seem to loop). It feels fairly well-balanced, and there are some interesting maps with mutations. However, I鈥檝e run into a problem with the card properties being unreadable. If the game screen is too big, the card is covered by the itch.io interface. If it鈥檚 too small, the card description simply doesn鈥檛 fit.

It took me a while to realise how the game related to the theme, but eventually I noticed the tentacle card out of nowhere! Really stunning art and polished experience. The only issue was that the music was a bit too loud on my machine :(

Gorgeous game! And lots of fun to play. Nice work! I did have the sleep card fail to activate on me a couple times but otherwise everything was pretty smooth and played well!

And here I thought I'd be the only one dumb enough to try and make a Slay the Spire-type game in nine days! This was  fun, and I really like how you incorporated the theme. At first I was a little wary of not getting to actually choose what new cards I got, but on reflection I think that actually really plays into the mutation aspect, and having to remove stronger cards to keep going is a fun twist. The art is also very good! Just a tip, the music doesn't loop—for web exports, you have to check the 'loop' option on the import panel for the audio file in godot and reimport it for that to work. Don't ask me why, it's a dumb quirk of the engine. The only thing I felt the game was really lacking in was content—more card variety, more enemies, etc.—but obviously that's a lot to ask for a jam game. Overall, good job!

Yeah, making a deckbuilder was definitely a lot to take on for a 9 day game jam. We might've bitten off a bit more than we could chew. I noticed the music doesn't loop while play testing, but totally forgot to fix it before submitting. Thanks for the tip for fixing it :)
