Theme Interpretation
In this game you try to guess how a yiddish word is pronounced based on the spelling. I took the theme of mutation to that of phonological mutation.

I tried to play the game but the text are super small and I couldn't read them. The UI does not scale even I tried to scale the game window or full screen.
It looks so interesting and unique and I really want to try.
If it is a known issue and there is a way to fix it, please let me know!
Yeah. I didn't have enough time to implement scaling. If you really want to play I would recommend changing your display resolution to a lower resolution. This should make the font look bigger.
The complete lack of instructions was actually kind of compelling. This game had a vice grip on my brain, I really wanted to understand. I spent a long time mouthing out sounds like a toddler learning their first language. It was cool figuring out that it was meant to be read right to left, but I was stumped until I read your comment about semitic words having inferred vowels. Iād love to play a full version of this with an explanation of what Iām actually solving, I felt like I was brute forcing a lot of the words. I also cheated a bit by looking up what assimilation meant in phonology :)
This is perhaps the most creative game I've played in this jam; very unique take on the theme! I enjoyed it very much, but it was very difficult; a more in depth tutorial would have been nice (it took me a while to realize it was read left to right), and maybe a way to access the alphabet more easily so you don't have to go through menus every time. This game also would benefit greatly from audio, so you can hear how the word is pronounced, but I understand that that would have been a very large undertaking for only 9 days! Very good game overall!
Very cool take on the theme and love the aesthetic :)
This is a super cool concept and I love the minimalist aesthetic, it makes the UI super clean, it's a bit confusing at first but I feel if it's broken up by levels or had a tiny walkthrough tutorial it would help players understand what to do, though I understand it's explaining a tough concept. Love the original take on the theme though!
Second what wolscott said, it's a bit difficult to decipher without a few pointers. Wouldn't mind learning about Phonology though so if you add some instructions I'd come back and try it again
Thanks for playing! Yeah learning languages is difficult. Even more so when you make a game based on edge cases. There is no particular order, I recommend skipping to I-mutation in plural nouns. Which contains mostly of Germanic nouns. A few pointers: the first answer of the first level in the I-mutation section is 'man', note how in English the plural of man is 'men'. When you answer all the questions and press the back button the level button will turn green indicating completion. Yiddish is written right-to-left.
Ah, right-to-left was a big help! I think im starting to get it, it just takes me a really long time haha, cool concept for a game though and definitely an original take on the theme!
this is a cool idea for a game but I literally can't figure out how to play it. I can select a noun, enter up to 3 letters in a box and click the button and it... prints those three letters below. I can look at the consenants to try to figure out the words but...
there's not enough instruction and not enough feedback to figure it out, I'm sorry :(
The three letters below act as a hint, the particular letters that are correct will be green. I probably should have put incorrect letters in red, though didn't like the color scheme. Semitic morphemes are spelled with the traditional system, ie. no vowels, and one must infer the vowels in between the consonants. I guess I needed more play testers
